Even if the gas tube sheared off wouldn't the rifle still fire one shot at a time? Why didnt it fire each time he pulled the trigger?

Probably b/c the gas tube had came loose and pushing against the gas key, preventing the carrier to be fully forward in the locked position.

exatly. thats why the bolt wasnt seating. it finally fell out the front of the rifle.
and we had actually fired quite a bit more. just not on video

Figured you probably fired quite a bit more than shown in the video, but still.... it surprised me the gas tube failed.
Did it came loose at the gas block area or did it fracture/explode?
The only other evident source of gas tube failure was from the M4A1 test where the gas tube fractured after 910rds of continuous fire without stopping.

I have killed many a gas tubes with a bump stock....

Didn't SkilletUSMC do something similar?

Looks like fun but I doubt my ammo budget could handle it.

Dammit! I just ordered one of these on Friday. (They were on sale and I figured "why not?")

I can already see this "sale" is going to turn into a dedicated bump upper/rifle in no time flat.

Yeah, yeah, I know. It's not exactly a bad "problem" to have....

Pretty neat!

Another poster mentioned killing gas tubes with full auto.  Is it a parts quality thing or just something to expect eventually no matter what brand gas tube you put in?

Wonder if the recoil will affect RDSs and scopes concerning zero shift and component integrity...

Narrowed down the cause? Maybe the sharp recoil impulse from the entire upper reciprocating?

Damn thing has an awesome ROF.  It's faster than my registered receiver, though I've got a heavy buffer/spring in there to slow it down.

Cool toy man

that isnt the problem, no misfires or fte. what it is, is that if your timing isnt right you can release the hammer before the bolt seats, so the hammer follows the bolt down, obviously not striking the firing pin with any force what so ever. just a thing we need to practice with.
