I've always loved the fever dream/acid trip quality of surrealism. Just wish I was that good an artist, and had ideas like that.
 But I can certainly enjoy them!

The grand daddy of Surrealism was Salvador Dali IMO, bit he spawned an amazing realm of dreamscape artists. Superb escapism. |

I would imagine anything from the avant-garde genres would give you something to listen to. Some of it downright bizarre and probably would be hard to identify as music. Others can be pretty interesting. |

The closes thing to "dream like" that I've heard was this (the first song owing to the poor audio-quality of early 90's cheap recording equipment): "Forest Head" - Marilyn Manson or a lot of stuff by Team Sleep. It all seemed to have a surrealistic, or dream-ish sound to me. |

Let's not forget Magritte. His works are simpler and less frenetic than some others like Dali, but still immediately transport you to another world.
And Man Ray... 
And Bunuel... 
Yeah, I like the really early surrealists. They were so radically different from what had gone before that they set the art world on its ear. |
