Or...I think I finally found a 1911 I like.

When I first got into guns, a 1911 was the holy grail. Oh so expensive. Beautiful. Awesome. I saved and saved and springfield came out with the Mil Spec. I bought it. I wanted and coveted something "fancy" like the Kimber Custom II. But it was out of reach. Over the years, it worked. It did not jam. But it shot low. Always low, and the sights are completely not adjustable. I also made it "fancy". trigger, hammer, sear, grip safety. Still. Sights sucked and shot low.
Sold it

I got a kimber ultra carry.
Jammed like a son of a bitch on everything. Also always shot low.
Sold it

6 months ago. A Kimber TLE Pro II. Oh man this thing is awesome.
Except it jammed at least 1 out of 50 rounds. And was $1000 wrapped up in a gun that was beautiful and sexy, but less reliable than any one of my other sub $500 handguns.
Also, shot a little low.
Sold it

Enter the ATI. Wut?
$399 from CDNN last week
Cheap filipino piece of crap. What the hell? Threaded barrel? Rail? Novak cut sights? Ambi safety? $400?????
Sigh. Fine. I'll buy the damn thing and give it a shot. At least I will be able to say I have a 1911.

I only shot 50 rounds yesterday. But I cut the bullseye out at 21 feet, and no jams right out of the box!
What the hell Kimber? I get 2 $700+ guns that jammed like smuckers, and some shop in the philippines puts out something with more features, better accuracy, does not jam(needs more testing), for half the price?

Now I need a Ti-Rant or an Osprey.

I got my magpul grips I like how the gray offsets the color a bit. . I ordered some front strap grip tape since I can;t stand smooth front straps.

Yep I love my ATI Fatboy.  If it was a little lighter I would carry it everywhere.  But the fact that it is an all steel gun and a double stack just makes me.  Should be a great shooter.  I also have a Kimber and a Colt, surprisingly the ATI has the tightest slide to frame fit of them all.  I have no problem trusting my life to my ATI, it has since become my bedside/house carry gun after I got the Kimber and Colt for EDC while out and about.

Pretty sure there's no MIM parts on it either.  Could be wrong on that one though.

I've had an ATI GI Commander for about 2 years now. It has had one misfire (Remington UMC ) and one stovepipe (my son was using a weird grip and I corrected him). Total round count is 4-500. I do use CMC Shooting Stars though. Its my EDC I trust my life to it everyday. Well, most days. Variety is the spice of life.

Side note, the QC ticket is dated July 4. Found that amusing for some reason.

Also a Glock fan, but for 400 dollars and with that kind of review I'd give that ATI a whirl.

/edit I'd want a GI style MSH and a solid trigger, but otherwise it's got what I want on a 1911.

You're not the first one to learn that Kimber is garbage.
Nice lookin gun, glad you finally got a good one.
For your next one get back into springfield.  Ya won't regret it.   I see a TRP in your future.

That really is a nice looking pistol and I usually don't like railed 1911's.  Looks like a decent beavertail cut, too.  I could do without the ambi-saftey, though.

I MIGHT have bad news if you are looking to suppress that 1911. It works for some, not for others. It seems the Octane is the best option for this handgun.

I bought a kimber roughly 6 years ago and it jammed constantly. I was sort of down on myself because how could a gun this pricey jam all these times. Once I passed the 500rd count it hasn't jammed since. I don't know if it's like that on newer models but the thing has been awesome ever since.

Dammit you are going to drive prices up. Look what happened to the prices of CZs when everyone figured-out what a great deal they were.

Just got a new kimber custom ii, first 25 rds through it with pmc bronze were perfect, next 75 were fed ae and had 2 ftf, looking at it it just seems there is a very slight ledge where the barrel and feed ramp touch and the edge of the brass got caught on there during rapid (well as rapid as I could get away with) fire.  Lookigng forward to putting another 500 or so through her before she gets carried everywhere but work.

OP great buy I am looking into an ati for my next 1911, don't want to spend 700 on the base gun for a 460 conversion.

While I approve of your purchase I have to add, a simple replacement sight that is shorter would have fixed the "shooting low" issue.

Almost no availability for sights in the Mil-spec. At least when I had mine. Front sight was pinned in. Not dovetailed. And rear dovetail not standard.

As for the kimbers........They cost to damn much for me to then have to buy replacement parts to "fix" them.
I was beginning to think it was just me. But shooting other peoples 1911's did not give me the problem. And this ATI hits just about perfect for me.

It looks to be the same gun, just missing the rails, different barrel and trigger and grips and sights. I thought about getting that one before I found the one I got. The sights are what kept me from ordering it, I hate those sights.

I bought one of those, I couldn't pass it up at $299.  The frame/slide fit is the tightest I've seen and the trigger is very good.   I'm not a fan of the sights either, but they'll do for a truck gun.  I haven't had it to the range yet, hopefully next week.
