I did find a pretty cool Army site that describes a bunch of unit insignia for all of the services along with their symbolism and frequently their history.

My favorite has always been a CSAR patch with an Elvis profile on it. It read "If he's out there, we'll find him". ETA: Fuck your rules. |

Cool, I dig this thread!
As a kid, I would stand in front of the surplus store patch case and pick out all the cool ones. My son picked the 91st infantry division for his backpack when he was 4 or 5. He likes Christmas trees. |

considering I volunteer with the McCormick foundation which funds the First Division Museum, I'm kinda partial........

I'm partial to the 34th and 35th Infantry Brigade patches. The "Red Bull" and "Sante Fe" respectfully.

The older 11th armored cavalry regiment's patch (the original version with the stallions crank visible). Patch got changed to neuter the horse in the 90s.

While technically outside the perview of the thread, I have always found unit crests more interesting. Patches are combat ID mechanism (unless gay ass, "morale" patches or one of the 20 patches all over a flight suit) 133rd Engineer Battalion http://d2jxk7u2ol2fk7.cloudfront.net/image/thumb/large/82341_133rd_engineer_bn_to_the_last_man.jpg Special Forces Regiment http://images.military.com/ImageLibrary/SFGROUPINS.GIF 16th Infantry (which appears somewhat lame, but there is a lot of history behind it) http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608007244446369828&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0 View Quote Here you go Sir: Institute of Heraldry Distinctive Unit Insignia I've worn the last two crests you posted.
