osprey21, how recent is that photo. I'm over on Diego Garcia right now. I didn't think that kind of picture would be available to the public.

My son spent a year at Diego Garcia in 1994. Just after the gulf war nothing going on then. He was a Marine in Security Forces. He took a video of the Island. Very pretty scenery. Bobwrench

I was on D'Gar 1991-1992, Got there just after the gulf war started. It is a very cool place to be, I had been there on numerous occasions prior to being stationed there. When I was stationed there it was the most stress free lifestyle I have ever known, No car to gas up, no big crowds, Just ride a bus or bicycle around, Barracks room right on the beach...Lots of stuff to do actually. Regards,

"On September 28, 2001 the Pentagon awarded a $12 million contract to build four specially designed shelters to protect the aircraft under the B-2 Extra Large Shelter Program." "One shelter would be erected at Fairford and four would go to [red]Diego Garcia[/red]." Looks like I was right. [:)]

"As of early December 2002, two of the shelters had been completed, located on a parking area. The two additional shelters could not be constructed until June 2003 as concrete foundations had to be poured."

Most of those photos are taken from either French or Russian satellites. We buy imagery from them, They are on a 24-72 hour public release agreement with the DOD on photos of certain areas.
