Used to play constantly in JrHS & HS. We never really got much accomplished game-wise though. Always off on a tangent rather than go fight the beasties. Since most of the party were Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Evil we'd usually just sack the village first then go fight the nasties that the villagers wanted us to take care of second. My buddy the DM's little brother played an insane magic user....he thought he was a cleric of Wilbur the Pig God. Had a stuffed pig mounted on the end of his magic staff so lightning bolts/fireballs/etc would issue out of the pigs mouth. He'd jump right in the middle of a melee' whacking people with this pig-on-a-stick rather than hanging back & casting spells most times. One time he got the bright idea to polymorph a henchman into a mindflayer but finally listened to the rest of us that the newly minted henchmindflayer would act just like a 100%original mindflayer & "..HE'LL EAT YOUR BRAIN!!!!" That phrase became a running joke during our games whenever he'd come up with some harebrained scheme. That & "It's a TRAP!!!", the favorite paranoid exclamation of my pimpadelic bandit (big-ass musketeer hat with peacock feather, ivory gripped falchion sword, jewel encrusted/gold inlaid crossbow...etc).
