I really don't see much wrong with showing the court the charitable efforts of a defendant as mitigating circumstances to be taken into account in sentencing. If she had a history of shoplifting arrests, wouldn't THAT previous history also be taken into account. They were trying to illustrate she had at least a modicum of character and utility to society.
Anyway, that petty little prosecutor was OBVIOUSLY getting personal just to rub it in Winona's face - [Nelson voice]"Ha-ha"[/Nelson voice].
The prosecutor is just a pitiful, petty, mousey little bitch who's probably still carrying a massive hatred against her high school prom queen and is taking out her personal jealosies on Winona.
She whines on and on about how the court should treat Winona no differently because of her celebrity status, but you just KNOW in the back of her little bitchy mind she was taking this case very personally, doing all she can to make sure she can stick it to the "pretty young starlet".
What a bitch.
