These suckers sound great. Who needs old-fashioned audio components? Just a PC, MP3s and some of these, and you've got quite a system. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 - $170

A really kick-ass pair of headphones is even BETTER. http://www.sennheiserusa.com/pages/products/index.htm Drool...Sennheiser HD600's, the best dynamic headphones on the planet! For a retail of 449 bucks, they better be! I got mine for $279 from a volume dealer on ebay. Best 279 I ever spent. They will let you hear details in familiar music that you never knew were in there. Gaming with these headphones is a mind-boggling experience, and they're so comfortable you'll forget you're wearing them. They DO have one disadvantage, though: With these headphones, you'll start to hate most MP3's because you can hear the compression artifacts quite clearly. Only a few MP3's are recorded at a high enough data rate to sound good in these phones. These headphones will make you run out and buy the CD's of the music you've been listening to as MP3's, so you can hear the music as it is intended to be heard instead of compressed. CJ

Those are cool. I wonder how they compare to the Monsoon MM-1000 or MM-2000 speakers?

I looked at those, and they have good reviews, but I didn't really want to have 5-speakers at my small computer desk. As it is, I keep accidentally kicking the sub-woofer.

I've considered hooking up my PC to my main audiophile/videophile grade home theater system, but I don't think think the house's structure can handle the abuse! It'd probably blast me into a coma! 1000 watt custom made subwoofer. It breaks things! 480 watts to each speaker. 10 foot diagonal projection screen. 25,000 buck's worth of equipment. 7700 bucks for the main L/R speakers. 8000 bucks for the pair of mono amps that drive them. 7500 bucks for the Sony projection unit. I got it all used and at huge cost savings. Still, it represents over five grand of my own cash! CJ

so you dont hook up the rear speakers or plug in the rear channel connection to the soundcard. still have the same power as the klipsh at lower cost. with 2 replacement speakers. but i have heard the 2,4,5.1 klipsh's all great sounding. the 4.1 speaker systems use 2 headphone connections on the soundcard Green is fronts, Black is rears. i use the sub as a foot rest. thick walled so it can withstand the light weight of my feet.

I got the older Klipsch 4.1s that they had before they came out with the newer 4.1s that have the mute botton on the control speaker. They are pretty darned nice, 400 watts total system power. Nicer thing was I got them on the old price which was 179bucks for the entire set, compared to nearly 300 for the newer set that has the silly mute button.

Dude, I know sound is a personal thing and all, but I highly doubt that the sound quality of your Logitech speakers even comes CLOSE to the Klipsch. I have purchased "computer" speakers from ALtec Lansing, Logitech, etc. - always at the advice of computer afficianados - all who drooled over how "great" the sound was. I have yet to be impressed. My cheapy JBL bookshelf speakers outclass anything put out in the "computer" market. Now that Klipsch has entered, maybe there is hope, Still, when their top-end 5.1 computer speakers are half the price of their lowest end home theater speakers, you gotta wonder where they cut corners to appeal to the computer gamer market - a demographic that has been proven not to have a very high-end taste in sound. A shame really, because the technology exists now for computers to put out pretty good sound - as long as you run it through a real amp and "real" speakers - and stay away from MP3s! My theory: computer geeks compare the sound quality to what was available in the previous generation of computer products. Sound geeks (myself included) compare the sound quality to that of live music / gunfire / etc. So, you see, everything is relative. cmjohnson: I HATE you for getting such a deal on them Sennheisers! You bastard! [:D] Adam
