The black bean burrito. It is just plain awful. I am not picky about food at all and can eat just about anything that passes for food. Hell, when I'm hungry I will lower my standards even more.

This thing is near the bottom of a moldy, sewer-laden barrel, though.

Pork Patty: came dried up like a sponge, had to reconstitute it with hot water. only MRE that ever made me vomit.

dehydrated pork patty [puke]

It was my first MRE in Boot Camp.  I had to eat it dry without drinking.  I damn near choked to death, it was like eating a mixture of sand and bouillion cubes.  Then Drill Instructor Sgt. Harris made me chug two canteens of water.  I then humped Bitch Ridge and Mount Mother Fucker with that ever expanding brick in my stomach.  Ahhhhh, the good old days! [:D]

BEAN and RICE BURRITO!!

Ii would give me the farts, SO F'ING BAD, just a little leak of a fart would clear full rooms...
It would make my butthole burn, and my eyes tear.
Normally the smell of my own smells dosen't bother me, but this was worse than CS.

Then It was a pain acting like I didn't do it, looking around, acting disgusted, but some people were on to me.

That whole experience would then be followed by a solid brick dump.

I hate them

Close second though would be franks.

I see the dehydrated pork patty and Chicken ala' king. Both excellent choices for the worst. All I can say to you youngn's out there is if you haven't had first generation MRE's you haven't had the worst. I had a new MRE yesterday, Beef chow mein and rice. It was a God Damn delicacy compared to the first gen garbage. C-rats were far better than any MRE I've ever had and they sucked.

Sort of looks like sauteed brain matter, doesn't it?

Gotta love some of these stories...

Ham slice with that wonderful congealed fat on the bottom and the urine water that gushes out when you bite it.

Next choice is the Chicken a la' king... every MRE I ate after that, tasted exactly like it. (psychological thing??)

Loved the fruit cocktail - (the only thing that would get me going after a week of MREs)

Peanut butter and the Cheese- god how could I forget that? Don’t ever open one without squeezing it first

I'd have to vote for the omlette. I can still remember the boxes full of omlettes cause no one would eat them.

My favorite would have to be the new one, chicken with salsa. It comes with jalapeno cheese spread which I would heat up and put on the chicken and salsa. It is also one of the few new ones that comes with a bag of M&M's.

Notice the inside of the beef in the "BEEF AND MUSHROOM SAUCE" is always bright red???

That one is nasty! I was hungry and could not finish the last one I opened.

They need a MRE trade-in depot so I can trade the nasty MREs in the case for edible ones.

The pasta ones: Chili-mac, ravioli and rotelli are good.

Lately I have been using dehydated food like Mountain House when outdoors.

From the olden days, I'd have to say that nasty assed omelet or the ham "tumor" slice.

Recently, the "four fingers of death" aka. franks and potato sticks was a real nasty beast.  The burrito got a pass as well.

I kinda liked the chicken ala king, it came with the chocolate covered cookie bar.

I must be crazy, but I didn't mind pork patties,
chicken ala king, or omelette with ham.

I loved meatballs in barbecue sauce, the fruit cocktail, and those fudge covered cookies.
We used to call them "gorilla cookies".

Ahhh...those wonderful MRE's that they made in the eighties. Making me hungry.

Beef slice in Butt(Barbecue) Sauce- The most rank ass nasty thing ever! Nothing but gristle!  I didn't mind the dehydrated stuff too much, it was easy to eat while on the move.

You guys remember how you would sweat out the crap they put in them, and it would turn to Brown t-shirts orange where you sweated?

Don't forget trying to Shit out the Brick when You got back to the rear! OW!!!

BEEF FRANK FRUTERS![puke] 98% fat.

I kinda liked the ham slice(slab). Pork in rice w/ BBQ sauce was the best!
The omlett was kinda funky, but I liked that too.

The oatmeal canstruction shim was kinda tasety, plus knawing on it killed time.

I see yer pork patties, and raise you one Meatballs-in-Barbecue sauce.  Wash that one down with a little MRE lemonade, and you'd have vicious enough heartburn to keep you awake on the midnight-to-two shift in an LP/OP after a week with no sleep!  After the first hour, you'd be crying for a swig of buttermilk to put the damn flames out!

Ick! Looks like the material from 1GUNRUNNERS dog puke pic.[puke]

I think the beef teriyaki is the fu%^$ng worst. I'd rather ingest my own vomit![puke]

Pork Chow Mein: Marginally edible. Kinda salty.[:|]

Beef Enchilada in Sauce: Outstanding, even when eaten cold.[^]

Chili and Macaroni: Best I've had so far. That shit is good.[:P]

I'd like to try one of those ham-slices.

You guys really have some wussy stomachs. Dad brings home leftover MREs all the time. (Ones the recruits won't eat, still sealed I mind you). I liked the ham slices they weren't that bad. I remember the MREs from the early 90s. I still get a hard on thinking of those packets of dehydrated fruit. I loved those things. You just open them up and it's like candy... so sweet mmmmm. Then the fruit cake was heavenly. I also have no gripes with the new MREs the only thing that I cannot eat so far is the white rice. It's horrible! But other then that no complaints. Eating the new "tan" MREs is fine dining compared to old ones which were packaged in Dark brown plastic. Just my experience with MREs...

The old #4.... Omelet with Ham. Do they still make that one?

On the other hand, the old #9 (Meetballs, Beef and Rice, in Spicy Tom. Sauce) was excellent. They don't make that one anymore.
