My question is why can we come to a conclusion based on statistics regarding cell phones and not be able to reach the same conclusions for firearms.?

Cell-phone benefits equal risk, study says
It finds value users place on calling from the road has as much weight as accident
                     costs.

                     By NEDRA PICKLER
                     The Associated Press

                                                                 WASHINGTON – Researchers say
increased cell-phone use has led to
more crashes caused by drivers on
the phone, but the value people place
on being able to call from the road
                                                                 roughly equals the accidents' cost.

Well, why don't we change the article, by replacing "cell phones" with guns... and have it republished.
