Where did you hear that "fact"?  My wife is a teacher and I have been around many teachers in the last 30 years or so.  My impression is that they are a good cross section of America for college educated folks.  Some liberal, some conservative, some non-political.  A couple of my shooting buddies are teachers.  I see teachers renting tables at the gun shows and see them attending the shows.
