Well,today was grandparents day at my grandsons' school..... and I stopped hunting to attend![rolleyes]

I am pleased to announce that they started out the activities with everyone standing and saying the "Pledge of Allegiance".
I stood tall and proud, as I recited what I used to look at years ago as an everyday "routine" in High School... back in the 60's.

They followed with the singing of "AMERICA" and that is when trouble started!

I started thinking of 9/11 and the people we have lost; as well as those we were lucky enough to keep!
People like edpmedic,Helldog40,ChrisLE,sherm804,Wave and all the other NY members who were there, helping those who needed them.

I choked up and had to stop singing.

A flood of tears welled up in my eyes, as I thought of having just spent the weekend with some of them and of how LUCKY we all are to have them for friends.

I may be a wuss,but I am glad to still be able to appreciate good friends!

God Bless you all in NYC..... and from Alabama through Wyoming!

Additional special thanks and prayers to our members in the Armed Forces who are now in harm's way or who will inevitably be called to the field of battle to defend our nation.

How I wish I could join you!

No Sir. I'd say you are just an All-American Man who is secure with who he is, and understands the blessings of this great country because of his personal sacrifice to keep it that way, but is humble enough not to boast about it.

j/k... I get choked up when I hear the National Anthem or sometimes when I just see the flag waving on a tall flagpole.

It means you understand what it means to be an American and you honor those who gave every drop of blood and sweat to keep this country free.

Freedom is never free and real americans like yourself know the price we pay for what most take for granted or complain about. I wish we had more like you and more schools like the one you mentioned.

Didn't garandman get tossed for calling you a wuss? I thought that was forbidden. Or is this yet another exception to the rules for senior staff? [;)]

I've never been able to sing the whole Star Spangled Banner for the same reason, and I actually know all four verses!

I only wish the politicians at home had as much courage as the soldiers over there. While the men in uniform are ready to die in Iraq, we still do not have the political will to control our own borders.
