What happens with the BATF once it comes under control of the Department of Justice?

It gets worse. Scott

Now what happens with the BATF? Brothers and sisters marry and the BATF continues to recruit the offspring as it seems they have in the past based on their sterling record of achievement. (Note: Bring up "Dueling Banjos" in the background.)

Is this happening? How the hell did I miss this?

I haven't read the text of the law, but as I understand it, the tax revenue duties remain with the BATF, but the enforcement branch goes to the DoJ. I guess the DoJ has access to better Ninja suits and superior firepower.

Homeland Security Department is: http://www.whitehouse.gov/deptofhomeland/ The Coast Guard and the Secret Service will remain intact as separate bodies within the department. Their chiefs will report directly to the homeland security secretary. Four directorates each led by an undersecretary for homeland security: Boarder and Transportation Security Customs Service Border Patrol Immigration and Naturalization Service. Transportation Security Administration Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (the border inspection portion) Federal Protective Service (for office space security) Emergency Preparedness and Response Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) If needed the Department would assume authority over federal grant programs for local and state first responders such as firefighters, police, and emergency medical personnel. Science and Technology (CBRN) In time of emergency: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Plum Island Animal Disease Center In times of emergency works with: Department of Agriculture Department of Health and Human Services Information Analysis/Infrastructure Protection Full partner and consumer of all intelligence-generating agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, and the FBI. National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Center Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office National Infrastructure Protection Center Federal Computer Incident Response Center National Communications System The Coast Guard - 5 core functions of the Coast Guard belong to the HSF: Port, Waterway and Coastal Security Drug Interdiction Migrant Interdiction Defense Readiness Law-Enforcement The following are classified as “nonhomeland security” missions. Marine Safety Search and Rescue Aids to Navigation Fisheries Law Enforcement Marine Environmental Protection Ice Operations, The bill guarantees that the homeland security secretary cannot cut Coast Guard missions, and it requires the department’s inspector general to review the service annually to ensure mission preservation. The bill includes a clause that eliminates its conditions and restrictions if the Coast Guard operates under the Navy Department during war. The bill also transfers the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms from the Treasury Department to the Justice Department. ATF revenue collection functions will remain at Treasury.

My take is that once the "super agency" is completed, then they will create other new agencies to do what the former employees once did. It's a huge scheme to grow government some more. Move 170,000 people into one agency, then you free up space in all the agencies those people came from. Brilliant! Does anyone still think our government is not the blob?
