Speed is great, trucking right along at 6:32EST.

HOWEVER.

Why am I getting logged out every time I change board pages or post a reply? Its really weird.

I signed on while I was on the Board List page, and it signed me on gave. Clicked on General Board-and when the page changed I wasn't signed on anymore. Re signed on. Looked over the GD and GFD forums then switched to AR15 Forums board-and got signed off! Then it did it again when I went back to the General Board from the AR15 forums board.

Then when I posted my new thread on the Subaru WRX, it signed me off when I hit submit-though the post did go through.

What is up with this strange behavior?

I for one appreciate all your work in maintaining this site, HOWEVER, it appears SLOWER than before for me.  I'm on DSL and there is a lot of lag time between pages - more so than before.  And I am constantly having to login, over and over and over, between page changes.

Perhaps the initial members who found it faster did so because they were some of the first to log on and the bandwith was available.

In any case, I'm glad your back up!

DSL user here.  Sporadically speedy, sporadically slow.  Getting into threads seems to be slow, but page to page within one is faster than it has been in a while.  Or maybe I shouldn't have had all that cough syrup ....

Goatboy-

Can't get these two pages to load properly:

I have to re login after each post. and when I write a post, I cant add text in the middle of a sentence it overwrites the other text.

example:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
abcdefghijktestpqrstuvwxyz   -added the word test after k, it overwrites the old letters instead of moving them over to the right.

Site feels faster to me - large pages are coming up in less time. Sorry, no hard data. It just feels good.

When you get a chance, can you satisfy us geeks and give us a peek at the hardware that is ar15.com? Or at least a rundown of your major components?

a quick observations before I head off to bed...

site is quicker to respond, but slower to load.

I see this with regular pages and when selecting the Icon Legends and Spell check buttons.  Sometimes they don't load.

I've got cable and everything else is doing fine.

... Goatboy,

I haven't had the chance to spend too much time on the boards since yhe upgrade but for me the site is ROCKING FAST!

... I'm not going to have much time to participate with all the fun here for awhile as for I just found my high school sweetheart after 25 years and we immediately fell madly and passionately in love again. Too bizarre but awful damned FUN!

... Thanks for the upgrades!

The reason it is overwriting your text instead of moving it to the right is b/c  you hit the insert key. Hit it again and it should stop doing that. If that doesn't work then it's a board problem. For all you guys that keep getting logged out do you have Auto login turned on? I've had none of the above problems, must be Windows XP :), except for the insert key thing every once in a while, that's just human error.
It's 12:00 exactly on 11/19/02 and the site is still blazing!

The speed varies.  Sometimes it's okay; sometimes it's slow.

The login is not working properly.  Sometimes it won't even log me in.  Sometimes it logs me out before I can hit the reply button on a thread.  Sometimes it works fine.

BTW, the auto-login thing doesn't work for me, either.  And yes, I've gone to my profile, selected No, submitted, then gone back and selected Yes, and submitted.  It didn't help.  Cookies are enabled so that's not the problem.

Speed is great again today GB but the doorman is acting up again also.

Loged in from the Board List page, and got loged out when I switched to the General board.

Tried to relog in from the general board, and the first time it didn't respond. I typed in my screen name and password, clicked on the log in button with my mouse. It seemed to take it, the opening page note appeared at the bottom of my screen, and the counter bar. But when the counter bar reached the end, it didn't log me in. No error message, just erased my name and password from the windows and went back like I had never typed in anything at all.

Tried it again, went through without any trouble.

I'm not getting logged out, but the "new" messages are behaving very screwy - I'll read one message on the first page of the forum, return to the forum and anything posted before that message is no longer marked new.  Makes it difficult to tell where I left off from the last browsing session.

Just take it down and do what you gotta do when you want to do it,  some may not like it (Including myself) but I can live with it. It's not like I am doing the upgrades/fixes or anything.

thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Hate to burst your bubble, but as of a little earlier this morning, I'm still having problems with the auto-logon.  It may just be this machine though, its been acting a little flaky and I haven't had time to look at it.

As for taking the site down to fix stuff, well, you're the admin, take it down when you need to (especially if its to give us search again!) [:D]

Thanks again,

GB, my auto-login is all out of whack!  It sometimes logs me in, sometimes not.  I had to click 'reply' to this thread 5 times before it gave me the dialog box. Sometimes it will look like I've logged out, but if I exit the page and then click on it again, I'm logged in.  It's very erratic.

I've refreshed my profile page and reset the cookies, if that helps.

Autologin is not working here either.  I deleted all my cookies from Windows explorer and reset the preference and that worked until I rebooted my machine.  I deleted and reset again and with no reboots it is no longer working again.
