I Bought A Ruger Mini 30 made in the first year, 1987. Got it for $350. Has a kinda low budget scope.I would say its 90-95% condition. Also got a 5 rnd ,2 20`s and 200 rnds of ammo. Fair price? I think it was. Opinions?

Not bad, especially with the mags. They are a fun rifle and shoot cheap ammo. That said, I don't think I've had mine out of the safe in a couple years. I originally got it to go pig hunting but never went. Now I have rifles that would suit that purpose better. Not really sure what to do with the thing now.

good deal....yes......as far as i`m concerned.....better than a sks for shooting the 762-39.....look for a synthetic stock.....and have fun with it.....easy to stock up on the cheap ammo in your travels......good truck gun..camp gun...medium game gun...and not worry about beating it up......

if the gun's in that good of shape, definitely a good deal. what brand are the 20 round mags?

I love mine. I use it for deer hunting and have killed 5 or 6 with it.

This gun is in really good shape. The 2 20rnd mags appear to be USA but cant tell for sure as they have no markings. Thanks for the replys

I have been meaning to play around with the stock on mine. They are not terribly accurate, but when I hold a tight sling I get about 1 1/2 inch groups. If you reload, remember that the bore is .308 not .310.

no markings, they might also be western metal usa pistol mags are garbage, but they're rifle mags seem to be alright

The Ruger Mini-14 and the Mini-30 are both decent peasant rifles....[:D]

ruger makes good stuff, and it's made in the good ol' usa. they also have possibly the best warranty service, even when you're not the original owner of the firearm. i will say i don't agree with the late bill ruger's sentiments and actions throughout ruger's history.

Glass bed the stock to the action, I got rid of the metal liner where the gas piston is, and just bedded it direcly to the stock, did wonders for accuracy. Not a sure fire gun with some imported ammo, where aks and sks will fire them every time, but if you want American, the only way to go.

There are no good deals on Ruger minis unless they are free! j/k For that price you could have got a SAR-1 but hey its preban even if its a mini. tho If those 20s are original ruger you may have lots o' money in mags there

ruger never made "high capacity" mags for the mini's to my knowledge, i asked a extremely knowledgable friend of mine, he said the same. bill ruger is quoted as saying he never intended for the public to have large capacity magazines for his rifles.

from http://www.gunnerynetwork.com/files/2bills.html He was filmed on television news with Tom Brokaw and said: "No honest man needs more than 10 rounds in any gun" and "I never meant for simple civilians to have my 20 or 30 round mags or my folding stock". and then said "I see nothing wrong with waiting periods". This TV interview was used (with Bill Rugers written permission) over and over again to rub our faces in the fact that: "even a gun manufacture thinks gun control is good". Need more proof? The following is an excerpt from the March 30, 1989 letter Bill Ruger sent to every member of Congress. It is in the Congressional Record and has been reprinted in several newspapers and magazines. "The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines.

i have a sar-1, and though i love the gun, i would never claim it to be as quality a gun as the mini-30

I've a NIB underfolder for the preban Mini 14/30 configurations. Was made by Federal Ordnance. If anyone is interested, e-mail me, and perhaps we can work out some sort of deal for it. I paid $130.00 for it. W

Yep, and they cost a pretty penny too. I got several pre-ban ruger high caps for the Mini's before the ban and its incredible what they go for now. Makes me wish I had bought a truckload and kept better care of them.

Ruger made some high caps for the mini 14 but not many. They didn't make any high cap mags for the mini 30 though.
