Guns are not the problem; the problem is anti-social, sociopathic behavior. Even if all guns were removed from existence the root of the problem still remains that people want to do harm to other people. It is completely naive to believe by removing guns that violent and deadly crimes will also be removed. People that are crazy/evil enough to want to do harm to other people, be it with knives, swords, bombs or any other implement will do harm. Granted a gun is an effective, not overly complex weapon. But other weapons are even more effective such as bombs (bombs can easily be made from items found in your cleaning closet) or even simpler weapons such as lead pipes or your bare hands. It is the typical, naive American approach to only treat the symptoms of the problem rather than the problem itself. The true problem at work here is people wanting to do harm to other people, until this problem is addressed outlawing all the weapons that can be imagined will not solve this problem. So instead of passing knee-jerk legislation to outlaw all guns, some thought should be given to how to fix current policies and social conditions that cause our society to produce people who want to kill other people. That is the solution. -Nick
