What say the hive.....
Nicely browned or chared crisp? |
|
I like some black crispy spots on the hotdog from a grill.
And the bun toasted on the grill too
|
|
I don't typically go for hot dogs, but if that's what's on, then make mine crispy. I like the skin blackened and peeling.

Hot dog on the grill. I honestly don't care, as long as it's cooked and hot.

I like my beef medium-rare
But when it comes to hot dogs, a nicely charred outside is the only way to go. |

My first attempts at grilling 'dogs was not too successful. They were more like crunchy charcoal sticks.
I have gotten better at it over the years and now they are nicely browned and normal looking with far less "charcoal". Interestingly, when my kids come over, they request the "charcoal sticks" as that is what they remember and like. |

Spiral slit the skin and boil. Toast bun. I hate boiled hotdogs |

Not all the way charred, but pretty near. Toasted bun, mustard.

Mother's Day Menu, per request:
Lunch: Hot Dogs, charred, wrapped in toasted flour tortilla. Dinner: Chicken wings from the smoker, and a chinese chicken salad. Gots to love that Redneck girl! And no, pics will not be forthcoming.

Medium-ish. Darkening a bit and getting some good grill marks, but not incinerated or with bitter-tasting burned spots. About like these: http://th01.deviantart.net/fs71/200H/i/2011/179/7/a/grilled_hotdogs_by_aragornsparrow-d3k9ab8.jpg This man knows what he is doing. I agree but the rest of you can have them any way you want. Another important part is to get quality buns and quality dogs themselves. Going cheap is fine if you are cooking for a huge bunch of drunk folks but the quality stuff does count for better eating. Here in central CT the brand to get is Hummels (out of New Haven) I prefer the natural casing ones for the grill. |

Quoted: Good bubbly skin, not necessary blackened though. Going to try this next time I grill dogs. Fuck Blake Smith in the ass with a rusty hammer. That foul disgusting AIDS ridden cunt slathers ketchup on that shit. Culinary wrecking ball. |

Quoted: I need to try this spiral cut hot dog thing. I had some at a friend's cookout. He spiral-cut them, then brushed bbq sauce on them and grilled them. The sauce got in all the nooks and caramelized. It was very, very good. |

Those are just right.

Dip them in Coca Cola before grilling, light to mod brown on outside.
And you have to use beef franks. |

Are you just an all around failure at being a man???? |
