Local reporter was outraged anyone can go into Wal-Mart and buy a box of .223 REM ammuniton. Apparently they went "undercover" at a local Wal-Mart and bought a box of UMC they were flashing on the TV screen in their news report. They said-UNLIKE OTHER AMMUNITION- the .223 requires no permits or ID to buy! [rolleyes]

Yeah, I do see your point. It seems their own stupidity garners them better ratings. Should work the other way around...

bicycles can also be bought at Wally World, household cleaning supplies, pool supplies, rat poison, and car and truck parts....
soccer moms kill more kids by not buckling them in...or not paying attention to the condition of their brakes or tires.Soccer moms kill more kids by not poison proofing their homes..
Bicycles kill more kids than guns...
But yes lets blame the ammo...
And lastly the anti gunners will have killed more people than anyone by making it illegal to defend oneself against terrorists..murdereres and thieves...
No body kills more humans than liberals- in their abortion mills daily...
these lying hippocrites make me a wee bit testy before Ive had my coffee....grrrrrrrrrrr

Well said.

How can you be against the death penalty, ie killing a murderer, but be in favor of killing an innocent baby?

I'm pro choice.  I choose birth control.

Probably. But when you got into Target, you can't buy .223 or 9mm or cleaning supplies or guns or bows or arrows  or ... TARGETS!!!

As a practicing trial lawyer I'm often asked for comments by members of the local press on cases in which I'm involved.  My standard response is "No comment".  I've yet to see a "reporter", and I do use that term as distinct from that almost extinct breed, the true journalist who seeks the truth, let the truth get in the way of what he/she considers a good story.  Give them a choice between sensationalism and the truth, they will choose sensationalism every time!

WHAT THE FUCK? you have to be 18 to buy ammo, the old bag probably looked like she was 80 years old so they didn't have to ask for ID.

(21 for handgun ammo but we all know that)

Y'know, I think the final battle over gun ownership might be coming soon.

If the sniper were picking off cops right now, we'd be hearing all about "cop killer bullets" again!  There are too many news outlets, too many ignorant mouths yapping away without a brain attached to them.  The death of our Republic is not far off.

What state? I think in NY you need a gun permit for ammo, and you can only buy in the caliber your liscensed gun is chambered in.

Of course, here in FL, you can buy any caliber from Wal-Mart if you are over 18. Mabye even younger if the cashier is dumb.

The reporter obviously needs to pull his head out of his ass.  If he complains about that, why doesn't he start complaining about cigarettes?  Why doesn't he call cigarettes weapons of chemical warfare?  A lot more people die annually from lung or throat cancer than gun accidents and homicides combined.

Those ignorant fools blow things WAY out of proportion.

If you think the reporters that report lies are just being sensational you are wrong, there is a motive, and the editors of the paper are very aware of what they do.
just like reporting Black on white crime stats,
they just ignore the real facts.
Or like homosexuall pediphile stats, that is just quietly forgotten.
Or the thousands of other issues they lie about, it's not only about money it's about controlling public opinion.
The mass media is the sole source of info for the majority of Americans.
And that media is controlled by a very small number of people in the country, and every goddamn politician is controlled by the media, unless they want their place at the public feeding trough to be taken away.

Go to www.NATVAN.com and check out the link on "Who Rules America" no this is not some wako conspiracy theory garbage either, it is all backed up with names and dates and addresses.
Quite disturbing actually

Canooger goes to Walmart-

Please sir I'd like a box of Blazer .45 ACP.

Clerk- Rifle or pistol?

Rifle of course sir.

Clerk- Yeah right- oh look it took it!

Canooger- Yes sir- it's for my Thomson

**** other customers look at Canooger like he's crazy****

Canooger's not crazy- just to lazy to re-load his own this week.

Canooger has brilliant idea- Walmart tax

Every time Mrs. Canooger makes him go to Walmart she has to buy him a box of ammo!

Canooger's favourites-

UMC .223 $4 20 count Cartridges are in divider
Remington .223 $7.5 40 count packed loose

Remington 9mm 100 count loose pack 11.50

I like to go to walmart now that the tax is in place.

Damned straight!

I'd be scared to try and chamber that in a "Precision Assault Weapon"!  (What MSNBC has called the sniper's weapon)

Longest darned .223 Winchester I've ever seen.  It would be the longest darned .308 I'd ever seen too.  Make that the longest 30-06 (but not by much).  It would make a nice 300 Weatherby Magnum, though.

Is anybody aware of ANY .223 (sounds like it should be .224 to me) that loads to 3.5 inches COL?

From the illustration and scaled dimensions, it looks like the case is about 0.675 in diameter, with a .350 inch bullet and 3.5 inch COL.  Big sucker (or poor drawing)....

"Hum..." says the unnamed expert to the newshound, "I guess one of those super-d-duper cop killer military armor piercing .223 rounds outta be pretty near three and a half inches long."

Saddest thing is all these dead people.
Next saddest is that the scumbag is still out there.
But all anybody will remember a year from now is that the nasty precision assault weapon fires a round that is as big as their liberal pecker.  That's sad for us.
