Just on our local CBS station. Four men were removed tonight from a American West flight bound for Phoenix at Oakland CA airport by FBI and Air Marshals. They are being interrogated by the FBI. The Feds have not yet released why they were removed and are being held.

Supposedly they were supposed to be on a flight previously but cancelled.  Then for this flight they paid cash, split up once on the plane.

But maybe they had no choice on the seats.

The last thing about this before the news went off here was that the stewardess thought they were suspicious and that there was some "problem" with seating-perhaps they insisted on trying to take seats that were not on their tickets?

The plane was only half full, pre 9-11 they wouldn't of cared but they get picky about such things now.

CNN and Fox havent placed it on their websites, and it isn't on the wires yet either-though supposedly it happened a little after 6pm CA time this evening.

Four Removed From Az.-Bound Flight
Fri Oct 4, 1:34 AM ET

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Four men were taken off a Phoenix-bound flight by police and questioned by the FBI ( news - web sites), a spokeswoman for Oakland International Airport said.

The men were removed Thursday from the America West Airlines Flight 624 bound for Phoenix by local law enforcement officers and an air marshal, spokeswoman Cyndy Johnson said.

"Right now they are in FBI hands and being questioned," Johnson said.

Calls places to the FBI seeking comment were not immediately returned and it was unclear what prompted the men's removal.

The four detained were ticketed for the flight and had boarded the airplane at the gate, Johnson confirmed.

The flight was delayed for about an hour because of the incident. It departed for Phoenix at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.
