Please quit calling post-ban rifles AR-15s. They are nothing more than semi-automatic target rifles. They ain't "militaristic" in any way shape or form. The more pro-gunners go around saying "Hey! Check out my post-ban ar-15!" the more the ignorant public actually thinks they are really "ar-15s." Remember, the Colt Match Target is actually legal in New Jersey and they banned real AR-15s. THANKS!

I think it's time to get me another one of those post-ban ar-15's. Never can have too many of those ar-15's....

My post-ban ar-15 and I beg to differ. Th only difference that I can see in my post-ban vs a "militaristic" M-16 or M-4 is full auto.

So are we now going to be semiautomatictargetrifles.com?
That's BS my 16" Bushmaster isn't a "target rifle" why should I pretend that it is? |
|
Who are you???
and Why do you get to tell me what to do? I keep forgetting[whacko] |
|
so what do you want to call them then? i see theres nothing wrong with 'postban ar15'??
|
|
Hmm...
Well, since nothing really changed mechanically between a 'PRE' and 'POST' (Colts with funky pins excluded), IIRC, it's really the same gun... As long as I can take an M16 manual, my 'post ban semi-auto' AR reciever, and come up with something that will provoke liberal non-gun-people (who don't know what a 'selector switch' is) to ask me 'Is that an M-16? Aren't those illegal?', I'd say the moniker sticks... Looks like an AR Sounds like an AR Takes AR mags Goes together following AR build instructions, with AR parts... Makes anti-gun-people hopping mad because you can still get it after they tried to ban it... AR15.... |

Think about this!!
You and I know that these guns are AR-type rifles but Jane Doe the soccer mom doesn't. ARs were banned in 1994, guys. That's why Colts calls it's guns Match Targets and Bushy XM-15s. Not AR-15s. Fuck Jane Doe? Uh Jane Doe votes and Jane Doe gets assault weapon bans passed by evil politcians. Emphasizing that your post-ban is no different than your 7400 or BAR would help alot in educating non-gunners that "evil black rifles" are really "good black rifles". To claim that your post-ban is close to your pre-ban is stupid. Your post ban is nothing more than a semi-auto rifle. Your pre-ban is closer to an M-16. Anyway, it's your call to what you want to classify your post ban as. As for me, nothing more than a HARMLESS DAMN S-A TARGET RIFLE if anyone asks. CRC |

Your pre-ban is also nothing more than a semi-automatic rifle.
Maybe you shouldn't call that an AR either. Now go away.[:k] |

Quit calling Siagas, Maadis, Romaks, Norinco's and heaven knows what else "AK'"s and you've got a deal.
I know,I'll start calling my AR-15's by the first names of my favorite topless dancers. That means I either need fewer favorites, or more rifles. |

If there's anything that we should learn from the Anti-Gun folks is that when you let them define the terms in this dispute, we've already lost!
We all know what an 'assault rifle' was! And yet we allowed the media and the Anti-Gun folks insist on calling a semi-auto rifle by a name that already had a precise definition, that didn't include a semi-auto rifle! So I don't think we need to budge an inch further. If it's an AR-15 type, style, semi-auto rifle, then you may call it an 'AR-15' in my lexicon! It's a short hand definition for something we all know and can identify. Eric The(FugThem! We'veGotTheGuns!)Hun[>]:)] |

Conversely, if you show that idiot your worried about offending that there is basically no friggin difference between a post or pre-ban AR, they might see how STUPID the AWB is and let it sunset like it should. The day I don't have to look at another buthole stock can't come soon enough!!!

Eric The Hun,
I know WE identify them as AR-15s but the anti-gunners don't. IF WE LET THE ANIT-GUNNERS CLASSIFY POST-BANS AS AR-15s then we've lost! Post-ban guns by the laws definition cannot be ARs because BATF banned their production in 1994. Pointing that out to non-gun owners would ease their fears about these "evil" guns. If we can get the non-gun owning public to see these guns as non-militarized "sporting firearms" then we've won! When Sarah Brady calls a Colt 6700 an "assault weapon" then people who know they are no more deadly than a Browning BAR won't buy into her bullshit propaganda! If I have a phone that looks like a shoe, do I also have a shoe? No. Just a phone that resembles one. CRC |

I seem to recall being the owner of an "M15" Where does that put me?

Devils advocate.....
By allowing a semi-auto, completely neutered , non-military target rifle to be classified as a military "assault rifle" we play right into the antis hands, by allowing them to define the terms of the debate. In reality, all a postban AR15 IS is a step down from 75 year old technology (the M1 rifle) with a less powerful cartridge, more prone to jamming, no bayonet lug, and a 30 round magazine and a pistol grip. Think about it - by calling it an AR15, we put it on the antis radar as the NEXT firearm to ban. When in reality its just a glorified, underpowered hunting rifle. |
|
POSTBANS are AR15s. When they make Postbans with fixed 10rd mags I will call it a target rifle. A ASSAULT RIFLE has "evil features"
Evil Features Include Telestock Flash Suppressor Bay Lug High Cap Magazine Short Barrels Postban or not the AR15 is still like, is, and close too a M16(varient). MILITARISTIC Who pissed in your cherrios today? |

I'm going to type "Rock River Arms CAR-15 Tactical Elite Postban" from now on when I refer to my carbine instead of AR15 JUST to keep some clueless twit from wetting themselves, huh? 45 characters instead of 4?! Forget it.
Remember its not about FACTS. It's about lying and misrepresentation, and they'll do that no matter what we call 'em. Might as well make it easy on ourselves. |

I think garandman has a good point here.
We should emphasize how these rifles are not even all that deadly. After all, they fire such a weak cartridge that it is not even legal in most states to hunt deer with them. AR-15s are really just varmint or target rifles. You can find dozens of threads right here that make this point. Everyone knows (have I not heard it a hundred times) ARs are intended to wound and not kill, so it much better to have criminal armed with these weapons. Everyone also knows (have I not heard it a thousand times) that they are unreliable. If a criminal has a gun, let us pray that he has a weak and unreliable AR-15. Those pump or double barrel shotguns are much more dangerous. Powerful, reliable. Evil. Maybe we ought to move tatjana's ballistics tests to a restricted forum. [;)] |

I think we should paint all of our guns pink, then they will look almost harmless. Flower holders and friendship beads could also adorn them, but that might be taking it too far. |

Um, first of all the AR in AR-15 stands for ARmalite, the company that employed the people who invented it most notably Gene Stoner. They also developed the AR-7, a .22 rim fire, the AR17 a shot gun as well as many other firearms.
So as was so eloquently stated earlier " Go have a cup of shut the......." |
