I have worked in a prision in florida and it is sick to know that people are getting hiv and other things because of the lack of the government. They will not offer condoms there. Why? Because if they offer condoms they are admitting that sex goes on at the prision. Dept. of Corrections is about control. If inmates are having sex, they are publicly admitting that they do not have control. So they dont issue them. A sick circle.
I will never work in a prision again. I will flip burgers before I do that again. |

Considering how easy it could be for anyone of to break some stupid, inane law or bet set up by law enforcement/prosecuters, I find it very troubling that any of us would rationalize, tolerate, condone, or outright approve of crimes against prisoners. Just because someone is sent to prison to be pay a debt to society and hopefully be reformed to some degree does not mean that they should brutalized.
Maybe it will be your family that this prisoner happens upon after his release and decides to release his rage upon. |

I love these guys who are sitting on their couch playing with the computer talking bout how they'd go into Fulsom and take over the yard.Make everyone their "bitch".
Come on!You people that talk like that are probably the ones that wouldn't live through your first 24 hours in a penitentiary.You'd be shanked and buttfucked to death before your first night was over. You guys don't know tough,ruthless animals like the lifetime loosers in these places.These are guys who abuse and have been abused and beaten there whole lives.We're talkin men ,women and children here.They don't care about computers or other leisurely BS.They don't have real friends.These guys spend their time lying,cheating,beating,stabbing,and attempting to kill others to get what they want or make themselves happy.They do this in and out of prison.There are no rules,or fairness,its the law of the jungle.The toughest,strongest and most ruthless survive.These people are ANIMALS.Read the post earlier on humans being animals at their base and you'll get the idea. |

By saying that a person is convicted of a crime, that somehow or another they are fair game for victimization in a prison by another inmate(s) is illogical and wrong. By just saying "it's part of their punishment" is wrong. If corrections officers cannot or are not willing to equitably enforce standards in the prison population, then there definitely needs to be an inquiry. In most states the County Corrections is run by the local sheriff's office.. Most counties are separate COs and Deputys but quite a few still work both. |

Big difference between Jail and Prision... Jail is usually a County lockup and very little (if any) BFing goes on in a county lockup... Most lightweights only go to Jail (one year or less)... Most Prison inmates are multiple felons and deserve to be there... Their care is probably not up to Hilton standards, but that's because it already costs us about $100.00 per day to keep them locked up...

I totally agree.Obviously the occassional fight can't be stopped,but it is absurd to throw people(specially non violent)into an environment like this with rape and all sorts of other brutalization going on daily,and expect them to come out "rehabilitated"or wonder why they get themselves thrown back in.These experiences probably traumatize and torture these people into lifetime disfuntion,if they weren't already. Anyhow,I've thought about this possibillity before.Its what makes the choice of action when they kick in the door to confiscate our weapons a very hard one.Death, or being thrown to the wolves for 5 or 10 years.I suspect most will cave.I'm not sure what I'll do till the time comes. I'd like to make a heroic speech about my toughguy stand against tyranny,but I just don't know. |

They have never had the gun ownership America has. I just came back from Green Haven Correctional Facility upstate in NY. I've gotta say that the CO's talked very bluntly about prison rape and said there is nothing they can do since the victims are never willing to press charges for fear of repurcussions.
Oh yeah, these guys are already pieces of shit BVRON, there's nothing that happens in prison that MAKES them go out and do these crimes again if they get out. Think about it, would YOU want to go back? They are unreformable human feces. Quit the liberal bullshit that prison "traumatizes and tortures" these people. I dealt with 2 rapists and 3 murderers today, trust me, none of them are worth shit. I'd happily put a bullet in each of them if given immunity. EDITED to add: Who said they are non-violent??? All of the ones I saw today were violent offenders who were convicted on easier charges like CSCS. But trust me, they're violent. |

Male on Male rape happens more than most people would belive. It's actually a little less common in jails and prison that the movies would lead you to belive. But its more common outside of prison that society wants to admit. Lot's of little boys are raped by their uncle, babysitter, priest, ect.
In fact men are more often the victims of rape than women. |

If you insist, here's my idea: Don't just throw them in cells all day, work them. Hard. Really, really hard. There's gotta be some hard labor somewhere that has to get done. They can stop for the day when they are too exausted to do anything else. With luck, they'll be to tired to shank and ass-rape each other. Or mabye not. It's just an idea. |

Please read my 2 posts more carefully.I'm not painting all prisoners with the same brush,and definatley not defending the lifetime loosers.I believe that Tin-foil-man started this thread cause he's worried what would happen to people like himself if they outlawed fire arms and decided to throw otherwise law abiding citizens in with these types of people.Those types asweell as nonviolent types are the ones I was refering to in my second post. I don't have a liberal thought in my mind when it comes to these dirtbags,but I also think prison should be relatively safe unless we're gonna go ahead and sentence people in writing to years of torture and rape. |
