Im not too fond of those little 100 ft bags mainly because i find myself wunning out quick especially when cutting a buddy off a slice. are there any places with reasonable prices on a large spool?

Check out Jay's Surplus on Hempstead Turnpike, or Tent City in Franklin Square (I think).

i seem to remember a guy on ebay that sold it (us mil issue) by the spool for about 30.00.

Jay's usually has rigging rope but no para-cord.
There is surplus place in Uniondale but selection was poor last time I was in there. One of the local gunstores had it but they wanted $15 per 100ft. Too pricey. Most of these Army/Navy stores in NYC/LI mainly just sell BDU's,Camo shirts and assorted camping stuff. Your best chance is with CheaperThanDirt.
