Hmmm... website says $1,155.00. This puts it in the same market as those who are arguably the best in the AR industry. I certainly haven't bought one and for that kind of $, I could build one that was equipped how I want it and that I would trust and have a great deal more confidence in.
Even if I didn't want to build and just wanted a complete rifle, I'd stash away another $150 and pick up a Rainier Arms RUC or any number of complete rifles by the likes of DD, Knights, Larue, BCM, Noveske, etc... ,long before I would buy a Red Jacket AR. If they want to enter the AR market, good for them, and if it's a quality product, good for us too, but they're going to need to prove themselves as a serious, capable and quality operation(hint - ditch the stupid show ASAP) with an equal product, before I see anyone who knows anything about ARs buying a ~$1,200 gun from them. If it had a $700 price tag on it, they'd stand more of a chance at serious people being willing to give it a try. |

I watched 2 episodes and was completely blown away that he could build his business up as big as he did. That is probably the one of the most unprofessional half assed hack shops out there. Seriously, he is just your run of the mill machinists that's pretty good of slapping stuff together and making it work. I wouldn't trust my life on anything that came from that shop. He should use a CAD program like PRO-E at the very least, then machine some parts to better specs and tolerances, as well as save on weight. That first episode when he mounted that saiga 12 on front of an AR..... I was like holy crap, that's gotta be one heavy SOB.
I don't care if you're a small outfit, at the very least you can spend a few grand on the software and hire a summer intern to show you how to use it. |
