Thought i'd see what our good friends over at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership were up to and ran across this interesting bit of information. Remember, we must ban cars, for the children.

Cars kill more people but we don't talk about banning them.

We license drivers of cars to ensure that they are competent on the road, and we register cars to reduce theft. We require that new cars meet safety standards. It is time that we apply the same common sense regulations to handguns.

Yes and look at how well people drive and how few cars are stolen.

I need to be able to carry a handgun for protection.  Even the most highly-trained law enforcement professionals are not always able to protect themselves with firearms. Often their guns are turned against them. How can we expect the average citizen to avoid these dangers?

Guns are used for self-protection 2.5 million times a year.
This extreme overestimation of self-defensive gun use has been thoroughly debunked by independent researchers in the published literature (see the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology,1997). Firearms are often kept in the home for protection, but they are rarely used for this purpose. Handguns kept loaded and ready for use pose a threat to family, friends, and the community at-large.

And yet they don't give a number, even the low low lowball estimate of 100,000 shows guns help more than the bad people using them...

It gets to the point where your head is going to explode.  Its not that they use half truths where said a certain way they're in the right or they don't fully explain something.  Its when they outright lie, they still use that danged 43 times more likely blah blah blah and its been debunked for how many years now?

Tyrants disarm the people before repressing them. (The first thing that Hitler did was to disarm the Jews.)

There are many countries with strong, common sense gun laws that remain free societies -- England, France, Australia, Japan, just to name a few. The real cause for concern should be the life and liberty being taken from the 5,000 children and adolescents who die from gunshot wounds each year.

I'm going to have to assume this is worldwide because I don't even think 5,000 kids have died this century to guns...also, they don't say that England, Austrailia, and even in some cases Japan's crime rate is going up...

There are already 20,000 gun laws on the books that aren't working. We don't need more laws.
That number is completely arbitrary. Just one law -- the Brady Law -- has stopped nearly a quarter million high-risk people from purchasing handguns since 1994. Gun-related crime and interstate gun trafficking have also dropped significantly since the Brady Law went into effect.

Law-abiding citizens are the only ones restricted by gun laws. Criminals don't pay attention to laws.
We know that criminals buy guns over-the-counter. Since 1994, the Brady Law has stopped a half million high-risk people from purchasing guns, with minimal disruption to legitimate gun purchasers.

First off, thats bs.  I've been disrupted at least twice because the gun I was purchasing had to be changed thus causing me at least 2 hours of wasted time put together trying to get it fixed because of the stupid computer...second, which number are we supposed to believe.  First its 250 thousand, then its 500 thousand...maybe its them that are using an arbitrary number?

Frankly, if they want to treat firearms the same as we treat cas, then that's okay by me.

Keep in mind that I can buy ANY damn car I want, even one that can go TWICE the legal speed limit.  I can even own the same exact car the police and the military use.  No waiting periods, no damn nothing.

My driver's license is good in every state and I can openly drive my car through New York City, New Jersey, Maryland, and California.

Nobody's gonna' ask me why I NEED to drive a car.

Fact 1 the word child does not usually include 13-24 yrar olds.  Seems they wrote a new definition for this occasion.

Fact 2  HCI is not funded solely by individuals, they are funded in large part by Liberial socialist phalanthropies.

Fact 3  HCI and their ilk are on a par with the sierra club whose court enforced policies have brought us notable fires for the last 5 years.  HCI has vowed to make all fire arms illegal and thsy have not wavered from that course.  They will mistate and outright LIE to obtain their goal.

Fact 4.  To see how screwed up they can make things look to the state of Maryland to see how they can really screw things up.

The want to treat guns like cars fine.

Was that hunting rifle bought by Sarah Brady a Straw purchase?  Will she be prosecuted?
