USGI.
But I used to like Orlite's because they didn't scratch the magwell. BTW- I drilled the holes out of one of my Orlite's and it look's cool. Cool because you can see any remaining rounds that reside. I'll post a pic later when I get back. Later... |

My favs are the ones that accidentally got into my sea bag when I got out of the Corps. They were all NIW Adventure Line mags that were issued when we got our NIB Colt M16A2's!

I know exactly what you mean,alot of my friends where in the military and when they came back from weekends away in tranning,they were glad to let me "Return to thier proper owner" the things that "Fell into their pockets and bags"[8D] |

Geez; I guess I'm odd man out. I use Colt 20's excusively. They seem to drop free from every AR throught my hands. They also have fewer feed problems than most thirties. I also like being able to real close to ground, becoming one with the dirt. Its kinda hard to shoot with the rifle sideways.

"Colts" seem to be more consistent internal F/R dimensionally. If I'm loading 77 gr. SMK's mag length I can get a couple thousandths more OAL and not bind. Other than that no difference with USGI.

Colt 20s- like the logo on the floor plate.
OKay 30s- same reason. My favorites are Labelle teflon 30s. Recently retired all my "range mags" and broke out the new ones, including the teflons. Life is short. Better that I enjoy the nice ones than somebody else. |

Okays and Colts. Why? Firstly, because they are the same thing(Colts are made by Okay for Colt). Secondly, so I have Colts to match my rifle and Okays to shoot at the range.
I'm an "All Colt" nut but, let's face it, Colt stamped mags are expensive. |

My favorites are early '70's Colt 20 rounders, I believe originally issued to the USAF. I bought 30 of them, each in a little plastic bag, packed 7 in a funny little half box with no top. The 28 have not been out of the box, the two have been used a little. I paid $15.00 each in May, 1994.
I mostly [u]use[/u] Thermold 20's. I bought ten of them to use as range mags in 1994 (early in the year) and planned to just use one until malfunctions began, then move on to #2, etc. After thousands of rounds, I'm still on #1. Not bad. |
