First time US troops have been shot at in the six months they have been in country. But oddly it gets shoved to the bottom of the article! http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=&ncid=721&e=8&u=/nm/20020618/wl_asia_nm/asia_110923_2 LA Times has a article with the incident as a headline- but they demand you pay money for it...

Reuters captioned this as being a picture of US troops "on patrol": Do you think they're really patrolling? 1) All bunched up 2) No SAWs or M203s visible 3) No evidence of extra ammo or gear It looks to me like some non-infantry types on an administrative movement.

Well Reuters finally got on it: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&564&e=13&u=/nm/20020617/ts_nm/philippines_usa_gunfire_dc_2 They guys who were shot at, while Marines, may not have been Infantry either. A spokesman said that they were at a "worksite" with some Philippine soldiers when they were fired on.
