Wow, what a day! I wanted to do some book shopping, so I hopped in the car and drove out to the mall. As soon as I got out of the car, it started..... Strange stares. A little girl pointed at me. One woman that had "suburban soccer mom" written all over her pulled her children close when I passed by. What the..? I immedately checked myself over. Nope; no guns. (Wisconsin is a NON-CCW state.) I had a sneezing fit back in the car, but a quick glance assured me I was booger free. [whacko] Hmm. My zipper is closed..... I looked myself over in the restroom mirror; nothing odd. Huh. So, I went about my business in a vain attempt to find a book. The storekeeper was nice, but when i went back up front I got a strange look. WTF???!!!! I left, and this repeated itself at a Barnes and Noble, a Borders, and a Half Price Books. I finally started toward home. I was beginning to forget the strangeness of the evening when I pulled into a gas station. The attendant looked at me, looked me up and down, and then smiled and gave me a thumbs-up! Well, I just figured it out. I walked past a full length mirror and saw it... Earlier today I needed a clean T-Shirt. I pulled a white one out of my drawer and put it on without thinking. The front is totally blank.... The back is a different story... It has a large (one foot in size) line drawing of a Beretta 92 with "Ed's Guns and Range" written in a semi-circle above it and the phone number and location below it. I scared the sheep, and I didn't even mean to this time.. [:D] Mike

Check your shorts next time. [;D] Can't be too careful...

You bad man, how dare you! LMAO I'd like to hear the stories that were probably told about you. "There was this gun freak at the mall today......." On second thought they'd most likely just piss me off.

I thought you encountered a Mall Ninja! And politely kicked his ass. [kill]

You didn't (gasp!) buy Shotgun News or Gun List at one of those books stores did you? Almost like porno mags when you bring them to the front to pay for them.[:D]

How about those shirts that say: "kill em all. Let god sort them out" or "If you run, you'll only die tired." Have you ever see anyone wear these? You would definitely need to have some balls to wear those. [:D]

Last week I was driving from my home in Tennessee to New Jersey for a family wedding. My plan was to carry for the majority of the trip, stopping just on the right side of the DC city limits to unload. Since spending 6+ hours in a car with a pistol under your shirt and no chance to adjust is pretty damn painful, I opted for (perfectly legal) open carry. It was pretty funny watching the attitudes change the further north I went. Stopping for gas in south-west Virginia didn't draw so much as an eye-blink, though eyebrows started raising higher and higher the closer I got to the DC area. Of particular amusement was the hotel desk attendant (we stopped overnight) who stared at my hip for a few minutes... "Uhh... are you a cop?" "Nope." "Security Guard?" "Nope." "...Bounty Hunter?" (nearly pissed myself trying not to laugh at this one.) "Nope." "So you just... have a gun?" "Yep." "And you carry it around with you?" "This is Virginia, you know--it's perfectly legal to carry a firearm openly, although you need a permit to carry concealed." "Really? So anyone can just get a gun and carry it around? Just like that?" I talked to the guy for a few more minutes, and am pretty sure he came away with a positive view of gun owners--who knows, maybe he'll head down to the local range and end up as one of us gun nuts, get his own CHP, and be yet one more person that owns guns and doesn't shoot up schools. I like that semi-horrified look--it gives you a chance to educate them.

Don't you just love it...I cobbled together a "Vote From The Rooftops" tee over the weekend. Today I got everything from those horrified stares to "Where did you get the cool shirt?" heh heh heh, I made it myself....

Nope; if I want to scare people I would go with "Special Weapons for Law Enforcement" or somesuch. You know, one of those gun rags with a glossy photo of some eeeevil black gun on the front. [:D] I was actually looking for a good book on desert survival. I'm going to be moving to Arizona, and I'd like to learn more concerning practical tips on desert survival. (I'd rather not learn the hard way via an auto breakdown between Phoenix and wherever.) Mike

Fsck the sheep. There are 3 types of people in this world: Sheep. Wolves. German Shepherds. That last group, that's us. We have the means and the will to deal with the wolves. But the sheep are so stupid that they can't tell the wolves from the german shepherds. I can hardly talk to sheep anymore without getting nauseated.

I have a tee shirt I bought from Ought-6 Wear, and it has the United Nations logo on the back, in the middle of crosshairs. Under that, it says, "Got Ammo?" I wore it one Saturday when I was chasing parts, and in a Sears parts depot, I was standing in line (for NOTHING, as it turns out). A man behind me asked what the tee shirt meant. I told him it means we should throw the marxist United Nations out of the United States and tell them to take a flyin' leap at a rollin' donut. He perceptibly backed away from me as his eyes got wider (baaaaaaahhhh, baaaaahhhh!). I turned around to see another man looking back at us, trying to conceal a grin. I LIKE that shirt, and I wear it wherever I damn well please.

The only time I actually gawked at a t-shirt was at a gun show. This guy had a shirt with a picture of a wolf, and the logo 'survival of the fittest'. He weighed, easily, 450 pounds, and was asking a vendor if he had a size 62 gunbelt. Couldn't help but wonder in he intended to be ironic.
Link Posted: 6/18/2002 8:45:02 AM EDT
I've got the "UN-Got Ammo?" tee, as well as the other ought-6 tee that reads "When the Hammer drops the BS stops". I always get some great comments on them (99% positive). I also have a Beretta and Colt logo polo shirts. I wear them all proudly. Just got a REAL kick-ass hat from SIG. I have enough pro-gun wear to last a week. Mach1: I LOVE those two tees-the Kill 'em all and the Die Tired. However, I'm not ex-military and consider it a sacrilidge to wear either of those tees if I'm not. I occasionally go to a Subway close to work that gets a lot of the 15-25 crowd, and you should see the eyeball caves widen in amazement when I go there and either carry openly or concealed but still partially visible. You'd think I have a sign on my back that reads, "CAUTION: BUBONIC PLAGUE CARRIER". What a shame!

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves: No else here wheres their AR15.com, Home of the Black Rifle t-shirt like I do? I really like the looks from the local cops when I walk into a place here in Alabama with that shirt on. No strange looks but just that "you'all be careful" look from sheriff's, police and once, 3 Tenn state troopers when I also had my Glock 23 in my fanny pack at Tim's Ford Dam store. I love it!!! I have worn this shirt to law school before. Its the "Hitler quote that isn't quite true but sounds good" shirt. What was sad was the law students that didn't GET the message of the shirt. For those of you who may not know the "quote", it is: This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future! --Adolf Hitler, 1935 Everybody at law school wanted to read it, and a couple of them managed to make themselves look like idiots by asking "why do you have a Hitler quote on your shirt? Are you a Nazi or something?" Other law students present had a good chuckle at that particular girl. I asked her politely if she was able to read, and then asked her to read it again. The other girl, looking confused, asked me, "so do you think nobody should have guns or everybody should have guns?" I said, "Its just a bit more complicated than that..." Some people just don't get it. Oh, by the way, yes you have permisssion to photoshop me, I'm a dork and I know it, I don't care.
Link Posted: 6/18/2002 12:07:35 PM EDT
Oh yeah, forgot to mention the response of one of my law school professors when he read the shirt, in the presence of a bunch of other students. He said, "its a constitutionally protected statement about a constitutionally protected right. I like it." Order in the court! [smash]

I get the best looks when I wear my ankle length trench coat (in black silk, of course - is a nice coat Ive had for many years) and my white shirt with a black bar, white letters reading " I NUCLEAR WAR". The heart is in red. No other markings on the shirt. Im 6'5 and 270 with long hair... I get looked at funny in "normal" clothes sometimes... :) Jonathan

It's my (almost every) Friday shirt at work. In fact, it's time for me to get another one...mine is turning grey (used to be black). I enjoy making an extra trip around to the offices of the lawyers. As I work in the northern part of VA (but born in the southern part!), guess which side of the fence they're on. Ed

While I don't have any shirts like that (it's been a while since I've bought any new shirts at all), I've seen lots of MP5 shirts around the college campus, and one guy in an Armalite shirt. Always good to know you're not alone.

Back during the Gulf War I used to wear my "Kick Their Ass; Take Their Gas" t-shirt (had Uncle Sam with sleeves rolled up and massive biceps). Can't recall if I got any negative stares about it; actually I got a few chuckles from people. OTOH, I have gotten some strange looks from people while I was reading Shotgun News on the subway. [}:D]
