In other words, what places are still free? I'm doing a research project for projected travel plans. Possible places to live and not to live.
So far, places inside the U.S. I KNOW I'm NOT going, CA, HA, MA, NY, IL, etc...

But Vermont is looking pretty nice!!!

Now I'm looking at countries that have good laws: South Africa I think you can still carry and own firearms. I am not finding much on the internet. Can you guys help me out?

I'm looking for a list of friendly places for the gun enthuist. Places I know I can pursue my love of shooting. Both rifle and pistol. I wish there was just a list on the internet somewhere.

Thanks for your help.

Forget about South Africa.  The black socialist government passed a lot of anti-gun laws in the past eighteen months.  Most aimed at disarming white citizens.  Get a copy of a SA firearm magazine named Magnum if you want details.  BTW if you are white you DON'T even want to think about moving to SA.  The white population there is shrinking quickly due to emigration to AUS, NZ and CAN.  Last trip there the looks in the white children's eyes was heart rending.

Don't know about the gun laws in South Africa, but whatever they are I wouldn't even consider living there unless I could bring along anything that fired more than one round per squeeze of the trigger.

IIRC, SA has the highest incidence of rape in the world, and that's just the tip of the iceburg.

Be advised, the following is pretty disturbing.

I've traveled around the world in the past 15 years and have always looked at the country for that very reason.  At one time I thought that Australia was the place, but soon after my trip the man blew away all the kids in the school... To date I would say Norway is the only place I would live as the hunting there is still Great, and you can have long guns.  I've covered Europe, Asia, north America, and the middle east.  The one place I've not been is south America, though I would think that there may be places there you can hunt and own guns.  Africa is out even if the allow guns and hunting the health aspect should be considered.

Costa Rica is a good place to live and very friendly to Americans.  Fishing and hunting are good.  Government and economy are stable and the dollar goes a LONG way.  Not aware of any oppressive anti-firearm laws.  Probably have some of the usual Central/South American prohibitions on military caliber firearms.  That's why there are AR15's in .222 caliber.

I have heard that Isreal has pretty good gun laws. I was never able to find specifics, but I have heard that carry liscenses are easy to get.

I was thinking Switzerland too.

But... they have joined the UN (finally), and if I remember correctly, they have just started passing gun laws. It was done after a someone shot up a place. Oddly, it was right before Switzerland joined the UN.
