Okay, I just got back from there and I gotta' ask....

How in hell do you stand it?

That place is the biggest waste of resources I have ever seen. I couldn't take it for more than 20 minutes. Chock full of idiots. All spouting off freely with whatever thoughts crossed their feeble little minds.

Friggen' amazing!

I think I might register there.

The same reason why republicans were worrying that there weren't going to be elections in 2000.

1) A President "out of control"
2) A President that is violating the Constitution
3) A President that may use "war" to declare a National Emergency as an excuse to suspend the election

This is what many republicans were saying during the klinton administration and is most likely what the democrats are saying now.

Face it...there are fringe elements on the Left that are NEVER going to get over the fact that Bush won the election.
Most are of the "I hate America" crowd who are still looking for conservative boogy-men under their beds each night before going to sleep.  Since they are the sad remnants of the communist empire left here in America...they are never going to come to terms with any president other than a [liberal] Democrat/Green...and even then they wouldn't be truly happy.  They just can't come to grips with the fact that Communism is almost dead...and socialism is likewise doomed...except for American campuses...and about 50 members of our own congress.  Soooo...they go hide in silly sites like DU where they can comiserate with each other about the terrible state we're in.
What a stupid bunch of losers!

Today on Howard Stern he stated that Gore was the first candidate to receive more votes but still lose the election.  I have heard several democrats say the same thing.  Perhaps they should have paid attention to the electoral college lecture during there junior high/ high school history classes when this possibility was discussed.

The dems are afraid for the same reason that the
rebs are.....people are starting to see things differently...just this week we had the beginning of the end for the catholic church..no debate on this one....lawsuits will eat them up..and their stance can be contrived to be approval....And big business begins a slow fall--aurthur anderson, enron, et al. Now we have a republican bunch who freely admit that they cannot control the terrorism situation and are about to get burned big time by the previous knowledge info...and this will spill over to the dems because slick willy is going to get pulled back up.....great times for watching the mighty fall.......now if it just happens fast enough to keep shrub from penning away the entire BOR...

Actually I think this has happened 1 or 2 other times.  Lincoln I think lost the popular vote but won the electoral college...

Didn't Rutherford B. Hayes win this way too? I heard somewhere he was colloquially known as "Rutherfraud" by his opponents because of this, much as the dems are snivelling & whining today.

it has happened before, iirc it was the 1888 election. florida was involved then, too.
lincoln was elected by plurality, not majority. there were 4 candidates running at the time.

Hound, if you believe that you should write a book.  The wild-eyed optimists & the alarmists' books always sell well.

Have you read the DU responses in the Hate Mail Bag? They never respond with facts but rather rely on insults. I wish I was that witty.

Pretty sad.

Well, hell. That's you're first mistake. I never go there simply because I can't handle so much ignorance on one screen.

If that place is indicative of the Democtratic Party at large, then a) I'm friggin' scared, and b) we have nothing to worry about.

I just find it funny that A and B switch in importance at about the same rate as a AC current...

What?

The "rebs" (I think you mean reps...or Republicans.) are not afraid...they are in the drivers' seats.  What should they fear?

The Catholic Church will take a terrible beating but trust me...the Church has more than sufficient funds to absorb many hundreds of [expensive] lawsuits.  The faithfull have not lost their faith...just their trust in many of the perv priests.  This will fix itself.  Mega-crisis?  Absolutely.  Survivable?  Most certainly.

"Big Business" (There we go again...those EVIL capitalists!) is not in a "slow fall"  The death of Enron/Anderson/Tyco...and a score of others are not going to bring the American economy down.  The market will probably continue to slip and slide and not come roaring out of the recession for another two or three quarters, but the basic fundamentals of our economy are still very strong.

The Bush Administration and the Republicans are not about to be consumed by the war on terror.  Actually, they are doing a damn fine job...especially considering the limitations placed upon them by the PC world.  I can imagine that you, like so many of those members of DU and the fifty or so usual suspects in Congress that would like to tar Bush and his cronies with the foreknowledge of the attacks.  Problem is, it just ain't so...and there is absolutely no credible evidence that he or any member of the administration knew ahead of time, despite the rumors, innuendo and outright lies from the howling lefties and the media...(Wait...ain't that redundant?).  Try as Time magazine or Newsweek might...and they did try hard...it isn't true and it won't stick.  YOU may believe it until your dying day...the majority of the American voters will reject that goofy idea this fall as they will in '04.  You are pissing in the wind on this one.

All things considered...it's a bit hard for Bush to, "...pen away the BOR".  Fact is...the Constitution is still strong and he can't just negate our rights.  Stay alert but don't fear.  The sky ain't fallin' yet.

Finally, I haven't a clue what you mean about Ol' Slick.  Would you care to enlighten me?
Cheers,

[beer]

My first answer is that is what they always want to do, whenever they gain the majority, and they fear the other side doing it to them.

Don't you remember what this board was like in the Fall of 2000?  All the threads here about how Clinton was going to declare martial law and make himself dictator? Even BEFORE the election debacle!

Some people are just worryers- and others there, like here, have Walter Mitty fantisies of being great famous Revolutionary Heros if only these stupid boring laws werent in the way...
