Need some "best bait" info for trapping mutant home wrecking raccoons. These things are getting braver (and smarter) every day [BD]
Anyway, the dry dog/cat food idea won't work too well, since it's raining.

It's tuna tonight! (probably catch a cat)

Peanut butter has always worked well for me.

Leftover donuts usually seems to bring 'em in also.

Try combinations of different baits also.

From an old trapper--the BEST coon bait:

one can mackarel
one tablespoon strong flavored honey
few drops anise extract

mix thoroughly

will also catch opossums, cats, dogs (be careful not to!), etc.

Thanks for the tips, I'm sure I'll end up trying them all before this is over [%|].

I never had this problem until the old coon hunter across the street had to pack it in and move because of his wife's health. He sure kept them in check.

Good baits for raccoons are fish, sardines, herring, crayfish, frogs, or something sweet like honey. Some cage trappers have good luck using sweet rolls for bait. Eggs are a good visual attracter. A piece of bread with peanut butter and honey also works well as a bait. There are commercial baits available, these work well especially if used in combination with some other visual type of a bait.

Have one. Doesn't do me much good if I'm working nights though. I might be up for some Saturday night rooftop work if this keeps up.

Treat yourself to a nice shellfish dinner like lobster or king crab legs. Collect all the table scraps. Place them where you want to attract coon. Sit back and it won't be long. They like that kind of meal as much as you do!

just hire the team of "ross & rs39"! champion 'coon killers at the brc!!!

ross will be happy to hit them at 60mph...and rs39 will smash any snall parts that ross missed.
