We were discussing Stoner, etc., the other day in another thread and you mentioned a book that I have not heard about. Back in the 1950's, the first .22 rifle designed by ArmaLite was the "Stoppette" (Believe it or not.) and was probably designated as the AR-11 - the caliber was .222. Now, I know who did 'not' design this rifle - Stoner, Sullivan, Fremont, etc., but have never been able to find out who did design the rifle. Does your book mention anything about the "Stoppette" or the AR-11 ??????

No, this book only covers the history of military rifles. Sgtar15

Thanks very much. I was hoping I might get lucky. Just FYI, the "Stoppette" was the test vehicle for the Small Caliber High Velocity (SCHV) round and the forerunner to the AR-15. Looked kind of like the AR-3 which was the forerunner of the AR-10.

Striker, I don't know Gus..............????? Help !! (Old crap like this doesn't matter much but I've become semi-obsessed because I've tried for years, unsuccessfully, to find this info - Mark Westrom doesn't know and H. James Sullivan knew but can't remember.....)
