It took Akron police 40 minutes to respond to Hunter's Philip Avenue home -- a fact that greatly angered the neighbors who called multiple times after hearing Karen Hunter's screams.

``If they would have come sooner, this could have been avoided,'' Brown said.

Brown said police dispatchers told her that many officers were tied up with a bank robbery.

``I don't understand why they couldn't send one officer here,'' said Martin, Brown's boyfriend. ``Then, this wouldn't have happened.''

You best believe the anti-gunners won't say a word about this. This is a perfect example of why women especially should always be armed, but ironically, they are the most anti-gun segment of our population.

According to police logs, neighbors called 911 at [red]8:54[/red] a.m., saying they saw Larry forcibly drag Karen -- who was only partially clad -- back into her house.

Zachary Martin, who lives across from Hunter, said he could hear Karen yelling, ``I won't do it again.''

After hearing the screams for a few minutes, Martin said he heard silence.

``I told my girlfriend, `I think she's dead,' '' Martin said. ``It was too quiet.''

Martin and his girlfriend, Jemella Brown, called police again at[red] 9:07[/red]

In my opinion she was already dead by the second phone call to 911.

Karen was granted a civil protection order against Larry on April 5.

Worth less than the paper is was printed on, and it's unenforceable by Law Enforcement.

The best defense is Self Defense. Law Enforcement has become an [i]"After the Crime"[/i] division of government.

Back in the 80's we were watching a show (don't remember the name of it) and there was a singles complex and, in this episode, a rapist in the area. The ladies were meeting in one of the apartments and one of the slightly older ladies took a .38 out of her purse. One of them asked what she need that for(!) and she said, [b]"A gaping chest wound tends to take the fight out of a man."[/b]

It struck me then as being an overlooked, obvious truth.

Bet you won't hear that on TV anymore.

Glad she had that restraining order - or she might be even more dead.

Good thing SWAT got there in time to save the murderer too. WAY TO GO!!! Now he can stand trial and cost us more money.

Why don't anti-gunners understand that this will happen - even with a 5 minute response time you are still dead. My biological mother is anti-gun. I worry about her and my sister all the time and they just think I'm a nut.

And if one of the neighbors had responded, they would have had to subdue the knife weilding man.

And possibly spent the rest of their life in court, or in jail for defending this neighbors right to life.

You miss the point: you're not supposed to help yourself - you're supposed to sit there & take it, lest you be held civilly &/or criminally liable.

That poor woman did exactly what the authorities allow, & expect - placidity.

Remember - self-defense is an abomination.
