I need to find a service that filters out the porn and other garbage (in a perfect world Rap too.) from the IP itself. I dont want to use software on the computer itself, most kids are smart enough to disable that. BrenLover

In Internet Explorer 6, you can enable (and password protect!) the Content Advisor.

Filters ... the way porn and warez sites hop around blocking by IP address doesn't work very well , you'll be constantly updating sites to block every day . Unfortunately having software on your computer is the best bet along with using an operating system that doesn't allow ordinary users to turn off/uninstall software . If your using Winows 2000 or XP you can set up each family member their own account on the computer .

Yea, but they might be smart enough to go download EI 5, or Netscape and bypass it all... Just let them look at porn, nothing wrong with it.. I'm sure you looked at your father's "special magazines" when you were at that age. Nothing wrong with rap either.. Have you ever actually sat down and listened to what they were saying in the lyrics? Think about it.

Yes, well since I am in the child health care field, I doubt my boss would like me letting them look at camel toe all day. [:)] Most rap is crap because of the lyrics. Few rappers have any real talent. Is all synthesized notes and regualr talking using racial epithets against whites, talking of smacking down their bithces, and bustin caps in each other and cops. Yeah, good stuff. [:(] BrenLover

No the won't. Not when their account is user-only. Then they can't install anything :P

My Mom works for a company out of South Bend,In called Cyberlink. They offer Surfpure. It is a filter based upon keywords.

Check with PAX TV - they do a lot of "family" programing (that is farily intelligent - Diagnosis Murder and the like) and they have their own ISP that is also "family safe." From the sound of it, it's all centrally filtered. FFZ

ComputerGuy, you are not alone. I'm big into hip-hop or "rap" too, way underrated as an art form.

Don't check with PAX-TV. You might as well call up HCI and ask them for their opinions. PAX-TV was one of the sponsors of the Million Mom March. You can see that here http://www.nraila.org/FactSheets.asp?FormMode=Detail&ID=27 . Also if you do the slightest bit of looking around they also helped support and distribute a program designed by "Chicken soup for the pre-teen" about ending violence. Haven't read it or searched more about it but with their already proven track record my best guess is that it probably isn't favorable towards the 2nd. No slam Freefire just one of those stations like Oxygen I'm waiting to end in the crapper someday hopefully for their big media money is against our liberties.
