Oh BTW kids, I took it out and put about 15 rds through it, both from a bench as well as off-hand. Pretty hefty kick, but it's not as sharp as my Mosin or my father-in-law's .30-06. The blast from the muzzle break sure rattles your teeth tough. My should has some red marks but isn't sore at all.
It's highly unlikely that I'll be able to get my Nightforce in time for BRC. Someone suggested a BSA Red Dot, which sounds pretty funny for a .50, but at least it's something to give me a reference point of where I'm aiming. They're only about $30 a pop so I'll probably order one.
Now pardon my lack of knowledge in this area, but the Serbu has picatinny rails and the BSA red dot will fit on Weaver rails. What's the difference? My assumption is that they're basically the same with the picatinny having the notches cut perpendicular to the rail so certaing scopes and mounts can be lined up at the same distance when reattaching them, as well as offering a more secure mount. Which would mean that you could mount a Weaver scope to picatinny rails but not vice-versa, correct?
