I will be moving from Alabama to Utah in June. I'll be traveling through Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona along the way. Any suggestions on places and things that I should see during the trip? You should visit _"Brice(sp)might be Bryce Canyon"_ in AZ near the UT border.Better thah the Grandcanyon IMO.Although if your going to do 1 you should do the other, their fairly close IIRC.[:D]...Lake Powell's a great take also.....The "Rainbow Bridge" there is a good take-in from the charter boat too.All in upper AZ or UT.

Arches National Park (in Utah). Bring LOTS LOTS LOTS of water if you think you're gonna try hiking around, especially at this time of year. May as well stop in New Orleans on your way. You might or might not want to drop in on Arcosanti while in AZ. They are antigun (had the "no firearms" sign up on their fence, to prohibit open carry), but it is a neat project. If you haven't seen a real live roadrunner before, that's the place to do it.

Also Canyon De Chili, Mesa Verde, and if you were going to stop in colorado (by chance). Royal Gorge Bridge (big), and Black Canyon of the Gunison; awesome. Oh and also Buckskin Joes. Ben

Ummm...Texas is sorta big and has more than one east/west corridor...which road are you planning to take? I10, I20, I30 or I40? Or something smaller?

Even though there's nothing else to do there, go to the Four Corners Monument and stand in four states at one time.

While you're in Louisiana, you might as well stop at the D-Day museum in New Orleans. http://www.ddaymuseum.org

You can see most things in Utah on day trips. I put 2000 miles on a rental car in two days on pleasure/business trip a couple years ago. I can't even start to recommend places to see between Alabama & Utah. So much depends on your route. How about White Sands, NM, Cactus National Monument in Tucson,AZ, stay for a huge thunder, lightning storm this time of year. I've never spent much time in Texas, except to pass thru. New Orleans, La. Maybe a bit over commercialized, but a fun place to visit. Most of the truly great places I've found over the years are off the beaten path and found accidently.

Louisiana--might want to check out Bourbon Street if you have the time Texas--The Alamo and the other Spanish missions in San Antonio New Mexico--Roswell Arizona--The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Tombstone And when you get to Utah, check out Bryce Canyon and ESPECIALLY Arches Natl Park over in Moab. Arches is just incredible...I spent a couple days there three years ago. Also, if you have the time and money, check out Lake Powell on the Utah/Arizona border...Rainbow Bridge is perhaps the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. Thanks for all the suggestions. I only have 6 days to get from Alabama to Utah, so I wont have nearly as much time as I'd like to spend at all those places. I figure I'll pick maybe 3 of the best and spend time there. Being from Mobile, I've been to New Orleans many times over the years, so that's out. I'm thinking mainly natural monuments and parks.
