Well guys it was a long time coming, but I finally got her back. My old Saiga that got converted to an AK. As most of you know, I was a Kali resident and was too late to buy an AK. So I bought a Saiga and had it converted. I sent it to Informer(one of the mods/gunsmiths from Assault Web and AK-47.net) to get the job done. The price was reasonable and the job he did was outstanding!! Time frame was a lil off, but understandable. Always had good communications with him

Now that I am in TX I think I will get a SAR next and scopr this one with a Drugonov style scope.

check it out

Nice setup on the AK. Once you buy one they may start multiplying.

I was unaware that it was possible/legal to convert it.  Too bad you can't modify existing AK mags to work w/ the 12.  Be a lot cheaper then the 40 some listed in the importers page.

Have a used Saiga 12 on layway.  Never took a second thought/look at them when the ad came out... until I saw that one and shot it in the range. OMG..... loved the 000 buck pattern at 25 yards and the slugs........(drool) dang, where's that towl........

Damn!!! no wonder the rounds don't fit. They sure do make everything big here in TX [:D]

Sure can as long as you have the right amount of US parts. The trigger group, butt-stock, forearm and muzzle brake are all US parts. Way more than enough.

Well, there was a problem with that. I was told 6wks. It took 12wks. I think the guy I sent it to(Informer on Ak-47.net) was a bit swamped cause people found out how good of a job he does. I sent it to him after Thankgiving. Just got it back last week. There was a week delay due to my move to TX.

LT,

A few questions if I may...

1) Is that the original Saiga barrel?

2) Did Informer replace the rear Saiga sight (has only 1-3 markings) with a better one (1-10 markings, possibly adjustable for windage)?

3) Would you mind me asking how much the rifle was and how much the conversion was?

4) Finally, what do you call it?  Saiga AK?  AK Druganov?

That is a very sweet looking setup.  Looks like it would be accurate as hell.  Maybe too accurate to call it an AK [;)].  I've read many great things about Informer's conversions over at AK-47.net.  I think the only complaint is that he's getting swamped with orders and there's a long wait.  I kinda wish I had heard of Informer before I bought my Krebs AK-103K, but I am still very pleased with mine.

LL

(if I may be allowed to show off a bit [:)])

1) It is the original Saiga barrel in it original length. Looks like he modified the gas tube to fit the fore grips.

2) No he did not replace the sight, but I like it that way anyways.

3) The rifle I bought for $280 and the conversion cost $180 incl shipping back to me.

4) I guess I will call it my Saiga AK.

He does take his time, but if you see the work he's done you will definitely understand. I highly recomend his work.

SUNDOG, I don't want to turn LT's thread into a Krebs thread.  Instead, follow this link for more information over at AK-47.net http://www.ak-47.net/akboard/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=022558  If you have any specific questions, e-mail me, I love talking about my Krebby!

LT, thanks for the response.  Looks like a really nice setup for a very reasonable price.  I ended up switching my rear sight for the RPK type with the windage adjustment.  Obviously if you're gonna scope yours, there's no need.  Can you post any detail pictures?  It's hard to tell with the whole rifle in the picture, but the finish looks pretty good from here.

How about these.

This area is where the trigger group was relocated.

This is the muzzle brake that was threaded and permanently installed.

This is the finish on the receiver up close.

I've got a Saiga 7.62 sporter. The reciever is superb, better than other clones 'cause it comes from the original Kalashnikov factory. Great accuracy. Already got an AK so I left it the way it was. Tales of the Gun featured a blurb on it. They said it wouldn't take hi-cap mags. Think they were confusing it with the Romak single stack.
