I know most of you over here are familiar with Gunslinger and he asked I come over here and post what's going on with his health.  His health is deteriating daily and they have given him no time to live.  I have had to quit my job to stay home to take care of him.  I will post the initial post I posted on another board when we announced to the public, this has been going on sometime but he just didn't want to alert anyone about it until he realized it would be better to tell people than it be such a surprise to them.  Due to reasons, he is no longer able to post here so I do hope the admins and mods will let this run so the friends he has here will be able to respond because he is able to sit for a short period of time to read some and I read what he can't to him.  Since space will not allow me to post it all in one, I will have to make a another post.

This saddens me to have to post this because this has been a very hard thing for me to face, to watch someone that you love so much deteriorate daily and see them in so much pain and everyday I wished it was me instead of him.
I know this news will come to a shock to most on this board, but it is something that has been going on for sometime and Slinger just didn't want to put it out on the boards because he just thought things would get better as time went on, but things are seemingly getting worse and he has asked me to post here to let everyone know why he isn't getting email or PM's answered as quickly as he would like and he also don't post on the board as much as he should. He has told the staff on board from the time this health issue developed but didn't want to alert the members.

Slinger has developed some health issues that is getting worse. His heart on the right side isn't functioning anymore at all and the only thing they can do at this point is a transplant and because of other health issues and habits he is not a candidate and most of all the money. The Drs. about a month ago gave him six months to live and for these days the health issue is getting stronger and everyday seems to deteriorate a little bit more. He is in severe pain 95% of the time and is not able to stay up in a chair for any period of a time. He is now at the point he no longer can eat hardly at all, he is taking Ensure in on the days he don't consume any food, but on the days he feels like eating something, it makes him so sick he doesn't want anything to eat the next day.

So as last night, he decided because of him deteriorating so rapidly and knowing six months is going to be a big stretch he wanted to go ahead and alert the members. He is not wanting any sympathy because of the this thread but he just wanted to let the people he cares and loves about so much to know why he isn't around like he should. This board means so much to him, it saddens him very much that he can't be here like he wants to be, but he tries to contribute as much as possible when he is feeling up to it.

I am taking total care of him, because his wishes is to be at home with me when something happens and I will never let this wish down, but some days are really hard because I have been a nurse for 11 yrs in my pass careers and took my patients as if they were one of mine own, but never had to be with someone 24/7 and see them suffer so much, but I know when the time comes I can say without any regret he got his wishes.

So anyone that wants to know anything more you can email me at [email protected] or [email protected] and I answer his mail as quickly as possible because I am trying to hold down my 40 hr job, but here lately I am home more than I am at work and with the 3 1/2 acres to mow and trim, time gets short around here because I always make sure Slinger's needs are met before I do anything else.[/i]

This is a sad situation to be happening to a man that will be missed very much.  I am a new member here today but I'm visiting several boards that I knew Gunslinger posted in to see if there is a post about his health yet and to let all his friends know that there is a fund going to help the family out. I too, have had the opportunity to communicate with Bill "off the board", and found him to be a gentleman and a true friend.  

I am deeply saddened by this news, Mrs. Gunslinger, and can't imagine how badly you must feel.  

Me and mine will be praying for him, that God would ease the pain he's feeling, and let him enjoy his remaining days with you, and us.

Bill is one of the good guys.  My thoughts are with him.

hey missouri members:  i know i'm volunteering you guys without your consent, but i thought perhaps....is anyone close enough to help out with the chores a bit?  mowing the yard doesn't take much, nothing but time.  but as it stands, time is seems to be their most precious commodity.  just a thought.  if it wouldn't take me all day to get there (and i do mean all day!), i'd love to help out.

 I am relatively new to this board and haven't had the time to get to know Gunslinger like many of the people here.I deeply regret that. But judging from the previous posts, he sounds like a great man and I am deeply saddened in hearing this news.
