I moved to a safer neighborhood and I saved few hundred dollars per year.
Go here http://www.apbnews.com/resourcecenter/datacenter/index.html?s=apbnews_headernav_f6 and type your zip code into APB/Neighborhood Crime Check section.  If your rating was 7 to 10 then you ought to move.   Also my insurance rep said mileage I put on my car affects insurance rate.  Less I drive, cheaper it is for me.  I'm closer to work, less time wasted in traffic, saving money on gas, and insurance is cheaper!
Ask your insurance company for ways to reduce your rate.  Get alarm system, take defensive driving course, increase your deductible, etc.
