A guy I know online is a soldier in the Israeli army. He's got an old Vietnam era M16A1. I'm going to send him some accessories for it, since he's not getting much help keeping it going from his unit.

Just make sure he gets good use out of your accessories. If not, have him send them back

I told him that if he doesn't use the parts, to pass them on to the next soldier, or the poor schmuck that loses a part.
