Leatherman super tool.

Had 3. Lost one, gave one away to a good friend and still have the third. Speaking as a mechanic, it is the greatest thing since video porn.

I had both a Gerber and a Leatherman and the Gerber sucks.

Leatherman all the way.

I have a Schrade, two Leathermans (Pulse and PST) and two Gerbers and two cheap chinese ripoffs I keep in the ashtrays of the vehicles.

The old Gerber isn't so hot, the new ones are nice.  I'd take any of the ones I have.  Lately my favorite is the Pulse but that might change next week.  Even the chinese junk ones are hella lot better than nothing.

I've had four Gerbers and I choose them for one reason: You can flick them open with one hand. It may not seem like much, but I find it an invaluable feature...

One of the main reasons I have one.   One-handed operation is very convenient, and I have had to use that feature on more than one occasion.

Same here.  Just modified a hacksaw blade to fit in the extra spot, works like a champ. Been on my belt every day for the past two years.

Thanks for the replys, I may just get one of each of the Gerber and SOG and compare them with some daily use and abuse.

I have two, a SOG Paratool and a Leatherman. Both have distinct conveniences, but IMHO, the Leatherman is a better and more functional device. The Paratool looks like it IS built to survive a war, but I've had the jaws of the pliers fold closed on me a couple of times (pain in the ass, not to mention the fingers!). I do, however, have two SOG lockblades that I wouldn't trade for ANYTHING.
