Have you been influenced to buy a firearm because you saw it in a movie or TV show?

Yeah, I'm looking to replace my partner with someone that looks like Pam Anderson and carries around a Desert Eagle on patrol!

Yes!, My first semi-auto pistol, Beretta 92fs, liked the one used by Mel in Lethal Weapon. I now have many semi-auto pistols, the Beretta is still my favorite.

Beretta 92 for me as well, but it was Terminator 2 that did it.  The shootout in the mall kicked ass.  I've mostly been influenced to buy guns from watching the History Channel.  Tales of the Gun was bankrupting me.  I'm still looking for a good Martini-Henry.

I bought a .44 Desert Eagle after seeing it in all the movies and Tv shows a while back. One of the biggest purchasing mistakes I made. It was a total piece of shit. FTF,FTE,stove pipes, slide release wouldn't hold half the time. Couldn't hit anything with it. Sent it back to the factory to fix slide release then sold it. The guy that bought it from me sent it back to the factory 3 more times after he bought it from me. All these problems and I had bought it new.[V]

I miss my walther PPK .380. it was very reliable and accurate too. it was so slim and easy to carry. Afther i get tired of owning my Khar P40 covert, i might go back to the little gun. People tell me all the time how unreliable PP's are, but i guess mine must have been a fluke. Fed it HP's

Dont get a pocket sized pistol in .40 it will sting your hand, or at least mine.

Movies that have influenced gun purchases

The Matrix-Berreta 92f
various WW2 movies-M1911
Platoon-AR-15, but would end up with one anyway cause of the ARMY, also the AK
Saving Private Ryan-Mauser

The M41a is actually a thompson .45 i wonder if someone could make a polymer stock for a tommy like in the Aliens film. might need an SBR too.

For a fictional gun, i would like a Blastech E-11 blaster rifle from Star Wars.

Yep. AR-15, ever since I saw the M-16s in Vietnam newsreels. Ditto on the 1911. Beretta 92 when I saw "Die Hard". Frontstuffer when I saw "Jeremiah Johnson". Unfortunately, I didn't aquire all these cool toys until the last 4 years. For a real long time the only shootin' irons I owned were a 20ga, 12ga, .270 and a .22.

I want a "Quigley" rifle, even though I'm quite aware that that was "hollywod" shooting.  Damn, but I like that Sharps .45-110.

Anyway, for those interested in the M41a Pulse Rifle, did you know you can get an AirSoft version?  www.monstersinmotion.com/weapons/pulserifle.html

A mere $3,000 (not including freight, of course.)

LMAO! It is called "A Christmas Story". Awesome film - a classic.

2 weeks after I saw the movie "Snatch", I ran out and bought a .50 Desert Eagle - I still love that gun, and the  movie.

God this is so tacky, but yes! During the early eighties I got the handgun bag really bad due to turning twenty one and Miami Vice.
I fell in love with that Bren Ten carried by Crockett.
I almost bought one but you had to send a $500
deposit first and then wait for your gun.

Luckily I decided to buy a Colt 1911 .45 that was in the store instead.

Shortly afterward the company that manufactured the Bren, (Dornaus and Dixon) went out of business and several customers lost their deposits. Also several guns were sent with no magazines and because thay are unique people who already had guns could never get more mags.

That was the first gun ever chambered for the 10mm round.
I still think it is the coolest looking handgun ever made! [:)]

Scarface, guys... SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!! A full size old school A1 with flare launcher, both grenade sights and that taped up jungle clip... I still have that monstrosity in the back of the safe...

And for a split second in the Arnie movie ERASER I saw a baddie carrying an AR-15 pistol... then I saw an Olympic OA-93 pistol in the hands of Spawn in that really bad SPAWN movie... but I had to run out and buy an AR-15 pre-ban pistol.

Haven't seen the movie, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the rifle was not a PSG1, but an SR9 with HK91 parts.  (Forearm and bipod?)

"Enemy at the Gates" made me want to get a Mauser with some antique high-end glass.

I saw a .44 AutoMag on a novel cover once.  I'd like one of those.

"Snatch" reminded me of how much I love shotguns.  And AK-100 series.

BUT....

"Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" made me fall in love with the BREN.

"What's that?"

"Its me Bren gun."

"Couldn't you have brought something more appropriate?"

Beautiful, beautiful, gun.

QBit,

You really talking about the WW2, LMG, .303 Bren?

No argument, excellent weapon (if you keep replacing the barrels before they melt) – just making sure we're on the same page.

I was just going to build a working mock up (Thompson/870 with the pulse rifle shell and all that crap), then charge nerds and geeks a lot of money to shoot it.

They have prints on the web for all the M41A tacky bolt-ons. Just make the cosmetic pieces out of wood and paint em.[:D]

I still don't know why someone has'nt made a caseless auto.  Quick set epoxy projectiles with a liquid or paste propellent. Someday when I have more money Ill try.

I went out and bought a Ruger MKII .22 pistol a few weeks after watching the movie "Assassins" with Sly Stallone and Antonio Bandaras.  Also since the director, Dick Donner, is a big gun-grabbing nut, it only seemed like the right thing to do. ;)  Now I gotta get a Beretta 92 since he directed Lethal Weapon too!!!  Off to the gun store I go!!! :)

I wanted an M-1 Carbine after I saw one on the T.V. show "Combat". That was a long time ago. I have a mix matched U.S.G.I. M-1 carbine with a Winchester receiver...that I bought a long time ago.
