Chicago Police were notified today that if they own a "ASSAULT WEAPON" they have until May 01 to sell that weapon or have it confiscated. After this is implemented citizens will be next. AR15's, Aks,SKS,Any shotgun with a pistol grip or a tube that holds more than 8shots, any rifle that uses a detachable mag that holds ten rounds or more(10/22!), any handgun that is 50 cal or larger. This is for real folks. There are other guns listed but this is just the begining! And this is the POLICE that the City is starting with!

Feel safe yet?
Link Posted: 4/16/2002 11:49:01 PM EDT
NOPE! No one is safe...not even the POLICE!
Link Posted: 4/16/2002 11:54:39 PM EDT
Ummm, did a search for news stories and it appears to concern non LE only. If they let their gun registration card expire, then somebody from the CAGE unit shows up to confiscate the weapon. My response would be i sold x weapon so many years ago [:\] http://www.freedomwriter.com/issue20/am1.htm
Link Posted: 4/16/2002 11:59:03 PM EDT
I can tell you that LAW Enforcement will be first because our MAYOR DALEY wants the police to be just as law abiding. How can he enforce his law when his boys in blue are breaking the same laws. And that CAGE unit ..very scary I can tell you that they hate anyone with a gun .
Link Posted: 4/19/2002 1:21:21 AM EDT
I remember a time long ago when we were told to never allow the government to register our weapons, cuz someday they will be back to get them. I guess they were right. Tell em to get lost, cuz you sold them to a "guy" in Arizona.

I wouldn't doubt it. Chicago is a weird place for sure. Getting guns from citizens? Come on now, people dont own guns in Murder Capital USA. [BD]

Just Chicago. They seem to do whatever the heck they want out there. Problem is, the rest of the US thinks Chicago gun laws are also Illinois gun laws. Av.

We were told by higher ups that according to this "POLICE DEPT. ORDER" any semi-automatic rifle with a detachable box mag is a "ASSAULT WEAPON". This means a Ruger 10/22 is now an assault weapon! When I brought this up -the answer was- either sell it , get it out of the Chicago area, or turn it in. There are other guns that are on this list. The scary part is that the Police and Firemen are first....then a new city ordinance will be written putting citizens in the same boat!

If you have a order of this nature. Please pass it on to Conceal Carry or ISRA. They live for this shit. Zerox the damm thing, or take a pic for all to see.

So I guess the M14 is out too. Seems like they are taking it further than the 94 crime bill on the definition of an assault rifle. I smell a SHIT STORM brewing.

By John Birch, President, Concealed Carry, Inc., PO BOX 4597, Oak Brook, IL 60523 Tel: 630 660-3935 Web: www.concealcarry.org Email: mailto:john@concealcarry.org As of May 1st the Chicago Superintendent of Police (no doubt under order's from Mayor Daley )has promulgated new gun bans for Chicago citizens. I left the spelling errors in just to show you how ignorant the city is. I'm not talking about minor errors either. The subject of this ban is yet again "assault" weapons which the Superintendent spells "assualt." Looks like Mayor Daley is not the only one suffering from a challenged grasp of the English language. HERE ARE SOME HIGHLIGHTS: 1. All .50 Calibers are banned (Yep, you know how criminals use those .50's!) 2. Bye bye Street Sweeper (The victim of a poor choice in picking a name for a shotgun for sure!) 3. Colt AR-15 (Okay for veterans to carry for their nation, but not as free citizens.) 4. Any gun starting with "TEC" (Gangs will give them up now for sure!) 5. Semi Automatics with pistol grips (And don't forget evil flash suppressors!) 6. You get the idea, no guns for citizens. THERE IS MORE: If you were so stupid as to register your guns with the city....they know you got them! You just lost your guns! And since the criminals didn't bother to register they get to keep theirs! Again the city is going out of it's way to coddle gang bangers and make the streets safe for them. Why Chicagoan's are so passive to this is beyond me. Let the killing continue I guess. THE UPSHOT: We hear, but cannot document yet, that there is another order that complements this one. It mandates Chicago Police must remove all weapons from their homes except their duty weapon also by May 1st. SIGN TO PUT UP ON THE DAN RYAN: "Armed Thugs and Gang Bangers Welcome to Chicago Where Even The Police Might Not Have A Gun!"

http://www.usnewswire.com/topnews/first/0429-100.html The ISRA is warning employees of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) that the department's Chicago Anti-Gun Enforcement (CAGE) unit may soon swoop down on their homes. The warning comes after the release of CPD Notice 02-18, which directs CPD employees to dispose of many of their personally owned firearms by May 1, 2002 or face the consequences. Firearms subject to the disposal order include a previously published list of so-called "assault weapons" as well as many of the rifles typically used to hunt deer and other game in the state. So I still ask you do you think your state is next? This is an outrage to all LEO and private citizens who legally own Guns. Where is the NRA and the groups to protect our rights. Why haven’t the people of IL responded to this? Is it because they don't live in COOK COUNTY? Well folk’s politics know no boundaries. How much money you have invested in your weapons? If you have to get rid of them you think they are going to give you fair market value? Hell no they got you by the Gonads. Either sell them or go to jail. So here is you $100.00 for your $1800.00 Rifle.

As if the Kalifornya experience didn't clarify the issue. It's a sad shame for those who smelled it coming, but just deserts for the rest who were stupid enough to think it couldn't/wouldn't happen "here". Those still living in a free region should watch, learn, & be thankful that we aren't suffering the same ill fate. Yet. For those of you living in WA State, be warned!: I have it on good authority that the issue of confiscation was proposed to troops at Ft. Lewis, but was (thankfully) rejected by same, w/ some explicitly stating their reason being that it would be an illegal order. Nonetheless, the idea was floated. Luckily, it sank. But, the future is always ready to grant an opportunity to those who have the will to persist. Supposedly, the WA State Constitution expressly authorizes private citizens the RKBA. But then again, so does the U.S. Constitution. Chicago is another warning sign for those who can & will see it for what it is - a taste of things to come. [(:)] [heavy][%(]

I know quite a few cops...and you must know very different ones. I'd say 80% of average police officers don't know or care two-point-shit about guns, and couldn't hit a barn if they were standing inside of it. Of the 20% I know who are good shooters (read: compete regularly outside of "cop only" matches) about one percent are good because of their department's training, and the other 19% are good in spite of it.

You'll note the dates these were first sent out. About three weeks ago. My guess is they are in there working on it, but we're not reading about it in the newspapers yet. Look for requests for court injunctions, etc. You'll also note this news only hit this forum a few days ago. Just because we're not posting links to newspaper articles, doesn't mean nothing's happening. The ISRA is one of the more active state associations around. They already have a couple of lawsuits against Daley & Chicago. This isn't done yet.

I think... why can't we own Class 3 then? Apparently the state gets to decide what we can defend ourselves or the state with. If they get to decide, it can eventually be a single-shot .22 rifle.

Edited to add: I refer to the state as "they" because the state government is currently infested with a large number of liberals. I just moved back here recently and haven't had the opportunity to vote yet. But you can bet I will! Every vote counts!

Y'know, if the CAGE unit had their heads handed to them by a group of motivated citizens--JUST ONE SINGLE TIME--one of two things would happen: 1) The gun grab would really heat up and it would spark even heavier outrage and civil unrest 2) They would go home with their tail between their legs and have to re-evaluate what the hell it is their doing. No one expected that the big gun grab would go off everywhere at once. It's been happening for years and they're just starting to get bolder and more outrageous. Imagine, a world without guns: The living would envy the dead! I could never give up mine, I'm too proud of them, since I assembled almost all of them myself!

There has been alot of scuttlebut on both sides concerning this issue. The warriors I know and have consulted with have stated holeheartly that they WILL NOT GIVE UP THEIR GUNS. Now the Department has just issued a City Wide Memo to all the troops assuring them that CAGE and IAD will not go to LEOs homes to see if those officers have complied with the new ordinance. Well the line has been drawn now we see if those LIBERAL non working wannabe coppers on the CAGE team will actually go to a coppers house. I've seen them in action and they are dangerous. To gun owners, because they think evrything is an assault weapon and no one should have guns. The police should have to leave their guns at the station after a tour of duty. And thats from a CAGE team officer! So now we will see if fellow officers when given an order to conduct and execute a search warrant on a Fellow Police Officer-will go thru with it. This being done to further Mayor Daley and Rod Blagoivich's political careers. Don't come knocking you may not like what answers. The Government IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. Remember"ANNUIT COEPTIS NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM" The Birth of The New World Order... WACO , Ruby Ridge , KALIFORNIA, Australia ...Chicago? Stand fast and fight! DOGMAN OUT.

I'm hoping you meant that as sarcasm. If you think what happens in another city WON'T happen where you live, you are kidding yourself. If it DOES happen there, it will spread. We need to stick together as lawful owners of guns, and try to keep it so that we can remain lawful owners of guns. If anyone organizes a MILLION GUN MARCH on Chicago, count me in. This is the U.S.A. We have to stick up for each other no matter where we live. If all else fails, let's all get to Texas and start digging the moat... [;)] Hope ya'll Texans wouldn't mind having us.

Yeah, where is the press? I mentioned this whole thing to my parents last night while we were cooking dinner. Now my dad was shot and owned rifles all his life, but he and my mom were both, shall we say, apprehensize about the AR-180B I brought home. When I told him about Chicago he basically said they'd never get ours. Not like they'd stand a chance of banning guns in Northeast PA, but hell, my dad said he'd never register his rifles either in the same breath. I was proud of me old man.
