There is a general presumption that the UN is composed of altruistic diplomats of a noble character. Hah! The UN is composed of the most corrupt people on the planet and they are political rather than altruistic. Annan is an Egyptian and an Arab. Period. What makes him different is that the UN monies allow him to live in splendor and as a celebrity. |

I think you will find that politics and altruism walk hand and hand. For Politics require that someone be altruistic as their own truths are sacrificed usually, "FOR THE PEOPLE, or FOR THE CHILDREN."

Lately, I've likened the US to a parent, and the rest of the world to a bunch of teenage kids. When some catastrophe occurs like and earthquake or famine, they expect our money. Every time they f up and "break curfew", they are astonished that we impose any punishment. |
