Me? Gay Marriage. I could care less about this and seeing people stump against it...waste of time. My marriage will not fall apart overnight if gays are allowed to get married.

Also, things like "in God we trust" and the 10 commandants in schools/ court houses as an example, I do not need the government 'validating' my belief in God.

What other social issues do you think Conservatives waste time, effort and money on? Please articulate the reason(s) why.

Abortion. It is one of the most divisive issues, no one is going to change their mind, and people just need to get past it. There are more important things to deal with.

Gay Marriage and Abortion.

There are *FAR* more important issues. These two issues are the Conservative's Achilles' heel.
Link Posted: 9/12/2010 1:16:47 PM EDT
Gay Marriage and abortion. Both matters of choice, that do not effect my life.

I want lower taxes, fiscal conservatism, fewer entitlements, a smaller Federal Government, and a stronger State Government.

Oh, but what do I know, I'm just a taxpayer.

Pornography. If you don't like it, turn it off. With the invention of the internet there is no realistic way to control it. They'll just do it in some other country and put it on the webz. Go after the pedos because they are fun to kill, but otherwise you're tilting at windmills.

Yes, if the Republicans drop abortion as a major plank, then conservatives everywhere are going to flock to the Democrat banner. I think not.

Seriosuly, who are they going to lose 35% of their base to? The Constitution party? Probably less than 5% have ever heard of them.

if conservatives believed in smaller government they would be fighting for government having nothing to do with marriage whether it be tax breaks or penalties and all rights to significant others would simply be handled by signing a witnessed contract.

i think it is unconstitutional that i get different treatmeent for being married in the first place and creates the entire problem of gay marriage.

You'd gain more than 10%. Abortion is a women's issue, and if people stay home because they're not able to restrict women's rights, quite honestly, Fuck them.

You don't understand that someone who is pro-choice would vote for Republicans. I'll try to explain.

I think gun rights, fiscal policy, taxes, border security, national defense, personal freedom, abuse of government power, and about 50 other topics are more important than abortion. So I vote conservative. I don't care for the pro-life stance of most elected conservatives, but my dislike of that one item is far outweighed by all of the above issues.

I'm pro-choice, but abortion is about #50 on my list of concerns. I just don't really care that much. That's why it always pisses me off to see conservative candidates skewered on the abortion issue. I want them to get elected, but Democrat hammering on this one topic dominates the discussion and keeps us from talking about the things that matter.

Illegal immigration.

They're here. Most of them work. 100% of them pay at least sales taxes. A large percentage also pay income taxes; they just don't get a refund because they are using a made-up SSN or somebody else's SSN (full disclosure: I am against Social Security and income taxes in the first place).

That leaves the problem of them using government services. I don't know if that is actually prevalent or not, but let's say it is. If so, my contention is that the problem is not one group of people who are receiving benefits that were paid for by money taken from me, but rather that the money was taken from me to begin with. Once the money is taken from me, it matters not whether it is given to someone who wasn't born here, or to some deadbeat who was born here.

Any and all of them. The name itself - "social" means that it is a matter for society, not law or politics.

There should be NO "social agenda" in either party. The saying goes "the right to swing one's fist ends at another person's nose". Maybe if we kept our noses OUT of more things they wouldn't be so out of joint.

(Whoo-hoo: three cliche's in a row, and ALL on topic!)

Gay marriage; it's their bedroom and their business, my bedroom my business, stay out of my marriage and I'll stay out of yours.

Childhood Obesity: 2/3 of this country is over weight or obese, children spend around 15% of their time in school in a calendar year, it's not the fault of the school system that your kid is fat, take away the fucking xbox and buy the kid a bike.

The war on wars on drugs: I'm not tree hugging long hair, but IMHO the war on drugs isn't really working out. Personally, I think it's time for a different approach.

Our educational system: I was a Special Ed teacher for a number of years. I shouldn't be teaching you child anything more then reading, writing, and math, get off your ass and instill some morals and values in your child, it's not my freaking job to raise your child.

I apologize for any spelling and grammar errors, I'm typing this on an Ipad.

No, the GOP needs to pull its head out of its ass and focus on issues don't polarize voters based on issues that .gov shouldn't be involved in to begin with.

Since we're going to throw labels...

It's Conservatives like you that give the rest a bad name. You're the kind of person, just like most hardline Conservatives, that screams any time the Government jumps in your shit because you say you want the government to leave people alone...

But those people over there! Those people can't do that and we should make a law stopping them! Unlike you, I want the government to leave *EVERYONE* alone and just let them lead their lives.

Chris, the simple answer is all of them.

There isn't a single social issue worth wasting time on. But more than that, if the only thing conservative political candidates and politicians focused on was the fiscal issues of low taxes and small gov't/low spending, then it would solve a lot of the social issues that are important for many conservatives.

The above is the true meaning of the 'Big Tent Theory'.

Same sex marriage was passed in NH in November of 2008.
