Hi all,

I'm looking for used/scrap conveyor belt strap to hang some steel targets. Anyone have ideas where this stuff can be found for cheap?

Thanks,
Jimmy

Try stone quarries. They typically scrap large belts once they can no longer be spliced or repaired. You might be able to pick up all you can haul for free.

Maybe an old silo unloader or manure hauler from a dairy farm?

Very good place to start looking.  Also, some farmers have them and might want to part with an old one.

All my conveyor belting is tied up in aviation research.

Get a hold of your local Motion Industries and ask them if any of their clients have some. The company is a seller of industrial parts including belting.

I'm near St. Louis. The belt needs to be thick enough to provide enough torsional stability to twist a 30 lb hanging steel plate back into alignment after being shot. The rubber will be attached to the plate using a single-point attachment. I'm guessing any moderately heavy-duty belt will do just fine. I'll send you an email.

Round baler(hay baler) belting. Can be bought new or probably free used at farm dealerships nationwide.

Try the local JD or CaseIH dealership.
