Say you've been a good employee and the boss is softened up and prepared to grant one wish. Nothing extravagant, maybe in the ballpark of a 5% pay bump, an extra couple days of vacation, something like that. Could be money or a change in policy.

Examples might be:
*better pay
*more vacation
*lower insurance rates
*r-e-s-p-e-c-t
*leeway for tardiness or other minor shenanigans
*shift schedule change (like going from five 8hr days to four 10's)
*subsidized education
*equipment that doesn't suck
*better work conditions
*better job security (somehow)

...whatever, your call. What's the one thing you'd ask for?

Personally, I'd take the money. Unless the pay bumped me into a higher tax bracket, then I'd take lower insurance for the same effect with less taxes.

Give me the business.

You're fired.

He's fired.

Company Lamborghini.

Stocked beer fridge to go with my new office.

Harem girls to decorate my new office.

I dunno?

This.

ETA- I would consider the gas money saved a little raise.

I'd want to be fired with NO chance of ever being rehired by that fucking asshole.

Oh wait, I'm self employed......nevermind!

Seriously - I want concealed carry on campus.

This. We get so many whack jobs trying to get into the building it can be scary.

I would most like to be relieved on time so I can go home and be able to actually schedule things. After I have served my time at sea, I just want to go home on time and not be overdue for relief by 1 or 2 months.

Eh, higher pay/promotion for me.

My job is actually fairly low stress. Due to the nature of our business we couldn't go to 10hrs/day 4 days/week.

I'd trim some flab around here.

Get a new truck.
Link Posted: 9/8/2010 8:15:22 AM EDT
Lets see...

I make enough, but I guess I could always want more.

I can CCW at work...

I've got plenty of flexability with my hours and lunch break.

At least once a week I don't go in until 9 and I leave at 1...

I reckon the only thing I would ask for is Saturdays off. I don't have to stay all day, all the time, but I've gotta show up 6 days a week, every week, with basically no exception. So either Saturdays off or a weeks vacation at some point in the year. I'd be happy with either one.

4-10's instead of my current 5-11's and 1-4.

concealed carry,

I wish they would hire some more people at my weekday job. It's a shitty retail job, someone just quit because she was under too much pressure. When she quit I had to pick her hours it's nearing holidays and they are still understaffed.

I think the problem is that corporate realizes the stores can barely function with less people. What they don't realize it's that there losing hundreds of dollars and hour because of pissed of customers.

I just got a 10% pay raise on Friday, so I'm not going to ask for another raise for awhile. But, there is one person I'd love to see standing in the unemployment line.

What the heck is in Lexington worth moving for (business-wise)?

We did this for a while, it was great. For the OP's question, a company vehicle or pay increase would be great.... I haven't had a raise above 3% in any job since the mid 1990's, still making what I was in 1999. Granted, it's still a gainful living but what is hurting me the most is a total lack of overtime.

I am trying to get into telephony, and my company has an office there that is central to a lot of telephony-related business aspects, and I would like to attend the University of Kentucky. I could work in the field I want to go into, and go to a school that I like at the same time.

My other half is from KY, and I think she'd be happier being closer to her family and friends there.

Pay raise. I drafted up why I deserve it formally in writing last night. Planning to ask for it this week. Do the math and I'm doing work above and beyond my position assignment and expectations, bringing in projects under budget and taking the same pay cut as everyone else due to economy. Only difference is the 5% pay cut hit soon after my first raise of 4.8% putting me at 0.2% under where I started right out of college 3.5 years ago. And then came a 10% hour reduction droping net pay to -10.2% from starting pay. By taking on extra assignments I'm working a full 40 hours.

I have most of the other stuff in that list already.

Return of overtime PAY instead of comp time. If I wanted time off I wouldn't have found a job.

That she fire herself.

Other than that, I'd like more hours. I keep telling them to schedule me for 7 8hr shifts, but apparently that's illegal...
