If it was a cat it would have already killed the enemy and brought back his heart as a trophy...

Me too. The unconditional love a dog is capable of having is something that most people will never comprehend. I'm blessed to have three wonderful dogs who are just as much my family as my wife and daughter are.

My daughter and one of our GSD's...

Every lab we've had will do the paw thing. My old lab Jake would do that while he slept.

I always figured it was so I couldn't leave without waking him up.

Yep, few folks can surpass the loyalty of a dog.

Same here... I'd rather spend a day with the dog in the park or a field or something than most people.

I agree. And, when they reach for his food, I can't really blame him. A man (or dog)'s gotta eat.

Translation: TAKE ME ON THE BOAAAAAAAAAAT!

We have 5 dogs, 4 are rescues. Could not live without them. They keep us sane. (sort of).

Dogs rule.

That is all.

My favorite heart string tugging dog pic. This is Aspen, a search dog with the the FEMA USAR Team from Miami Dade with his handler Skip Fernandez at the Oklahoma City bombing site. Golden Retrievers are so close to having a human soul, and you can see the sadness in this one's face.

Mine used to "grab" my hand and pull it onto her when she wanted scratchies. She may have been dumb as a post, but she was the friendliest dog I've ever known.

I`ve had a lotta dogs, but the Springer i have now is without doubt the best dog-pal-helper
i`ve ever seen.
She waits at the window when its time for me to come home from work, and when MizSusan
lets her out, she waits til i open the truckdoor to approach, cause she knows i don`t want her
to jump up on the door and scratch it. then she helps me park the pickup and after that, makes
a high speed patrol of the perimeter. Woe to the squirrel who dares the ground.
This dog travels well, going 6k miles in July and 7k the July prior.
Like all you guys, i could write a book about her clever stuffl

We joke about having a bumper sticker made up that says "my dog is a better kid than your kid."
and I know, everybody thinks they have the worlds best dog. Alls i can say is that there must be
some damn fine dogs out there. Got so, you can trust someone that your dog doesnt like.

MizSusan has a long and lofty prayer for saying Grace before a meal. Mine is "Dear Lord, just let
me be the man my dog thinks I am."

Oh yeah, at 9:30 every night, she comes to me and announces that the back yard is just full of
zombies, invaders, giant squirrels, whatever. nothing will do but for me to take the AR with
the bright white light out back, scan and clear the area. she puts on a brave show, and only then
will she relax and go to sleep.
Gotta admire dedication to job like that.
