I say, unequivocally, the 1980s. I can't think of a single thing released in the 1980s that I enjoy, other than Faith No More's "The Real Thing" which was released in 1989 and helped kill wretched '80s rock.

I have to say 2000-now. Everything has gone down hill. Most of the rock is depressing or driven by the base, teenage tough guy angst, (remember when they used to rock out about partying and banging women?); top 40 pop involves no talent or ability to preform, just some teenager dancer with some autotuned vocal; and hip hop is no longer edgy and clever (2pac and NWA vs a bunch of rich retards mumbling about cash).

Without a doubt. This country went to shit after Y2K. Music included.

1630 to 1640.

Lots of overblown, BS "harpsichord rock".
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 6:58:53 AM EDT
I would have to say the 90's, if you guys think about some of the abortions of bands and one hit wonders that came out, it was fucking horrid.
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 6:59:34 AM EDT
The last decade has to be the worst ever ,even the 90's sucked balls .I cant listen to any of the new music it's so bad .But I think the 60's, 70's and 80's were some of the best ,but I think it has to do with how old your are .

The 80's were "my" music ,right out of high school partying with my friends with the music playing all different styles of 80's music ,rock, punk ,electronica .the 80's were different but great !

Yea I know, I'm the old fuck that doesn't know shit ! (Coming up on 48 )

Yes, I forgot about Appetite...I like Metallica's Black Album, I don't really care for their earlier thrash and I can't stand any of their newer stuff.

Probably the 80's overall. But there was some good stuff then. Slayer and Metallica were both in their prime. GnR released their only decent album (Appetite for Destruction). Black Sabbaath put out a couple of solid albums with Ronnie James Dio. There's more, but you get the idea. The "pop" music of the time was atrocious.

Music is pretty lame now, too (2000- now). There's some good metal out there now, but the mainstream crap is, well, crap. Possibly as bad as the 80's

This, by a landslide. Most of it sucks. The '80s had great metal/thrash, blues, and more. Now everything is cookie-cutter, auto-tuned crap.

For pop music? The 1990s. However, there has always been good music. You just have to look for it.

60's...by far.

There where some good artists, but for the most part the music was shit.

This.

Wether or not you liked the 80's rock, it was still rock. Rock died after that.

The 90s were pretty fucking horrible.
There's a lot of good music right now, the 80s had some great music––-some dreck too, but that's the case in every decade, the 70s had some awesome music (not disco, but some great rock especially in the late 70s), and the 60s was full of ground-breaking albums and songs, But the 90s were derivative schlock, as a whole.
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 7:09:33 AM EDT
1900-1910. Nobody likes that stuff.

Tough call between the 1980's and the 2000's

I'm going with the 2000's tho, and the degradation of rock, rap, pop, and country into absolute garbage

2000s so far.
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 7:12:41 AM EDT
2000's. The music industry isn't even set up to allow/create a "Journey" or some other epic, supported, cherished type of band/act.
They have intentionally created an audience with a microscopic attention span, now reap the benefits you a-holes.

Now ('00) is the worst period of music, 'cause I can't find anything entertaining to listent to! Even my teenager kids are listening to the '70 and '80 musics by their own choices.

2000 to 2010. Every decade will have a few standouts, but overall this decade was horrid musically.

Should the current trends continue, I have no doubt 2010 to 2020 will be worse.

Link Posted: 9/5/2010 7:15:26 AM EDT
Definitely now. It says quite a bit when even the kids born in this decade can appreciate Fallout 3's songs from the 40's and 50's.

Depression era Blues is some of the best music ever made in America in my opinion.

Dude I'm looking at my Time Life AM Gold 70's collection right now(no really) and the 70's were cool with songs like.......You don't mess around with Jim,A horse with no name,Bad Bad Leroy Brown, and many others. Well you could have a point. They seem to have the Ghey ,but when I was a kid all we had was AM radio and those were the hits and they were great. (Every body had AM there was no FM stations at that time)

It would have to be the 2000-2010. Good rock is dead and has been replaced with alternative/euro type music.

90's wasn't as bad as some make it out to be, still lots of good music.
I would say the 80's were better then the 70's.

This. Good music died with the turn or the century. Late '60s / early 70s... best we had.

"Grunge" ruined everything.
