An IDF patrol by reserve soldiers was ambushed during operations in the [Jenin] refugee camp," an IDF statement said. "The ambush included the use of explosive devices that were detonated against them, as well as gunfire directed against the soldiers from the rooftops of the surrounding buildings."

Seven other soldiers were wounded, one of them critically, when a building collapsed because of the explosions, the IDF said.

Palestinians blamed the IDF for the deaths, saying the troops were killed when the IDF mistakenly set off a blast inside a building without knowing Israeli troops were inside.

I read on MSNBC news it was a booby trapped building...

At one point, Israeli reserve soldiers entered a building that had been booby-trapped by Palestinian fighters, military sources and TV reports said. A powerful blast went off, burying some of the soldiers under the rubble, the reports said. Other soldiers rushing to the scene came under fire from Palestinian gunmen on rooftops.
Israel Radio said some of the bombs contained as much as 220 pounds of explosives.
The evacuation of the wounded and recovery of three of the bodies took several hours, and Israel’s military censor prevented reporting on the incident for much of the day.
The Israeli army said seven other soldiers were wounded in the explosion, one critically.
