I wasn't a member back then

I was driving back down the M6 in the UK when I first heard reports of a "light aircraft" crashing into the WTC.  I'd been working on the Foot and Mouth Crisis in the UK at the time, and had been up in Cumbria for a debrief.

By the time I got home there, my neighbour Dave had phoned me and we met on the drive, came into my home and watched the events unfolding........ when it became apparent hat the hole had been made by something much bigger I think we knew it was an attack, then the second plane struck.......

I agree, on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 it would be poignant to resurect the threads as a reminder to what happened...... we've all seen the pictures and films, but it's the reactions of ordinary Americans that is most haunting.

Well done!

It's amazing how many of those 2001 posters are still with us after all these many many years.

And it's equally amazing how many of them are NOT, not by their own choice.

None that I know of, but if a random, nondescript member suddenly just stopped posting, would we really notice?
And THANKS Goatboy.  I am so glad you found that backup.  I had always thought it was such a shame that threads from back then had been lost, especially the ones around 9/11.

I was trying to search the archives for any comments within the GD.  I must be doing something wrong since my search does not bring back any results.

It was.  I was flipping back and forth between FNC, CNN, and Arfcom.

Yep, you need to be Team to get into the archives.

That day for me like the rest of us here was full of shock and disbelief, I don't think I browsed or posted on Arfcom for a few days afterwards

The facility I work at went on lockdown for a day or two, moron Sheriff didn't offer any assistance to NYPD

A few of my neighbors perished in the tragedy along with a fella I used to work with ( All NYFD )

I had one of those, and put it up for auction on this site as a part of the fund raising for ETH's daughter.

I see I posted on that thread. One of my memories of that day was leaving work early shortly after I posted on Page 3. A man was leaving just before me. His hand was shaking so bad, he dropped his card while trying to swipe the gate.

It was a sad day, and a day of great anger. I think we need to recapture some of that anger as the job is far from finished.

WOW, the memories.  I had just come back on light duty after being injured.  I was about to get married.  It’s amazing the things we forget until something sparks them.

Thank you Goat Boy!
